The twenty-eighth essay 1月15日考试A类大作文。

some workplaces tend to a equal number of women and men.
do you think it is positive or negative for the social development?

Answer:

Today, in many countries, people hold bigger and more expensive weddings than before.  What's your opinion about it? Do you agree or disagree?

Answer: ...

To realise your dream is not exactly the same as to make you dream come true as it refers more to something you have worked towards, whereas a dream come true could be something unattainable such as meeting Elvis.

Some workplaces tend to a equal number of women and men.
Do you think it is positive or negative for the social development?

正文:
Today women make up equality of professional workers in many countries, not only this phenomenon changes the status that millions of people who were once dependent on men have taken control of their own economic fates, but also it comes with frictions to social development. Dealing with the consequences will be one of the great challenges of next generation.

Across the world women's economic empowerment is something to be welcomed, not least it liberates the productivity. When physical strengh mattered more than brains, men had an inherent advantage; now brainpower has overweighed the two sexes are more evenly matched. A skilled-dependent economy means that countries will have to make better use of female population, increasing women's participation in the labour market to male level will definitely boost the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). Admittedly that women earn substantially less than men on average, firms are likewisely to recruit female for sake of cost and profit.

Granted, one obvious issue is that women are still under-presented at the top in organizations, the higher ranks of management are usually dominated by men. This no doubt owes something to prejudice, it is that wemen are judged by exactly the same standard as men, however the reality is that many women are forced to choose between motherhood and careers. One possible alternative solution for this problem might be providing after-school care system.

The trend towards more women working is almost certain to continue, despite of the negativities, women as well as men will be the beneficiaries of this tendency.

Some workplaces tend to a equal number of women and men.
Do you think it is positive or negative for the social development?

正文:
Today women make up equality of professional workers in many countries, not only this phenomenon changes (当not only放在句首时,not only后面要倒装,but also后面不用倒装) the status that millions of people who were once dependent on men have taken control of their own economic fates, but also it comes with frictions to social development. Dealing with the consequences will be one of the great challenges of next generation.

Across the world, (状语前置加逗号) women's economic empowerment (这个字貌似很赞,学习了) is something to be welcomed, not least it liberates the productivity. When physical strength mattered more than brains, men had an inherent advantage; now brainpower has overweighed the two sexes are more evenly matched. A skilled-dependent economy means that countries will have to make better use of female population, increasing women's participation in the labour market to male level will definitely boost the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). Admittedly that women earn substantially less than men on average, firms are likewisely (likewise本身就是副词) to recruit female for sake of cost and profit.

Granted, one obvious issue is that women are still under-presented (貌似想表达的是underrepresented吧) at the top in organizations, the higher ranks of management are usually dominated by men. This no doubt owes something to prejudice, it is that women are judged by exactly the same standard as men, however the reality is that many women are forced to choose between motherhood and careers. The thirtieth essay

Some people believe a country will benefit greatly by a high percentage of young people go to university. Others argue that it only leads to graduate unemployment. Discuss both and give your own opinion.

Answer:

As increasing students have easily gained entrances to colleges in contemporary society, some people think nations would benefit from it, which youngsters trend to go to universities. But, others do not think so and believe it could bring graduate joblessness. In this essay, I will analyse both view and pose my own opinion.

Indeed, majority youths go to school will definitely benefit countries. First and foremost, universities will cultivate a vast number of persons with ability for national development in various areas. More precisely, not only will students acquire specialistic knowledge from schooling, but also they can learn how to deal with their peers thereby enriching their social experience because a school is society in miniature. Likewise, students will find their interests and get information about career planning during university days. As a consequence, they have sufficient knowledge and abilities to rapidly adjust themselves to start careers after they graduate.

However, as a matter of fact, increasing graduates cannot find decent job in present-day society. But in my view, graduate joblessness might not caused by majority youngsters attending universities. There always occurs graduates unemployment even if universities stop to accept students at all. Actually, graduates' awareness drive the incidence of joblessness up. Obviously, some graduates unwilling to do some labourious jobs. Instead, they prefer sitting in the offices, tackling easy business and gaining lots of money. In consequence, they might always finding and losing. But provided that universities would pay attention to orient graduates to face job opportunities aright, the unemployment rate might be reduced.

Summarily, In my view, countries will benefit from high percentage of youngster go to universities. And that might not cause graduate unemployment. Instead, graduates' awareness are the main contributor to drive unemployment rate up. But universities' orientation can help to improve.

The thirty-first essay

Nowadays, the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing, discuss the causes and the solutions.

Answer:

In this day and age, the gap between the affluent and the needy has increasingly widened. In this essay, I will analyse some possible reasons and propose some solutions.

As a matter of fact, the gap between the income and the consumption might be the main cause. More precisely, the prices of necessitates have been increasing high currently. As a consequence, the poor hardly deal with their daily lives because of their less income. Even they cannot afford a decent meal every day. By contrast, the affluent might not worry about their lives. They have sufficient money to live comfortably and have much remained money to invest for the sake of earning more. Subsequently, the prices of commodities are continuing to rise since the wealthy promote the consumption. This vicious circle makes the needy more impoverished and the affluent more rich than before.

However, the governments' effort would improve this situation. Firstly, to put heavy taxes on luxuries would be a good attempt for narrowing the gap. By that, the affluent need to pay more money on their luxury lives and the needy will not be impacted. Subsequently, governments can use those money which received from taxes to adjust the prices of necessitates for the needy. Likewise, they can also boost welfare and alms for the sake of augment the deprived people's income. Therefore, the poor can live more comfortable than before and can save remained money to make their household better. In the course of time, the gap between the needy and the rich would be narrowed to the limit.

Summarily, in my view, the gap between the income and the consumption might be the main contributor to widen the gap between the poor and the rich. But, government can take measure such as putting luxury taxes, adjusting prices of necessitates and boosting welfare and alms to improve this situation.

请教:they realized the returns for the education was not substantial enough...
原文是they realized the returns to the education they actually had access to was not substantial enough...

Some people believe a country will benefit greatly by a high percentage of young people go to university. Others argue that it only leads to graduate unemployment. Discuss both and give your own opinion.
正文:
For a subject arouses such strong passions, "university education" is indeed difficult to pin down. For student's perspective, embarking on collage study for several years would be worth if the market rewards the skills they learnt. Thus, I am side with that society as well as individual will be the beneficiaries of high enrolment rate of universities.

The concept sounds simple enough: a more market-oriented higher education system can do much better than state-dominated model. The high premium to skilled labour results from the higher education system not providing enough skilled labour to keep up with the demand technology created.  In a short word, demand increased faster than supply. That may explain why many universities have not just compressed technical courses' duration from four years to three, but also they have lowered the admission requirements. Enrolling more students and emphasising on vocational training are actually quite beneficial, back to thirty years ago, Wall Street firms realized that some physicists could work out differential equations and recruited them as analysts and traders to compensate shortage of specialists from economics and finance.

Admittedly, advances come with stings. Demand for those who graduated from more selective institutions as well as those with post-graduate degrees is still enormous. But demand for remaining group is less strong. In addition, workers might have recognized the value of education and initially pursued it, but they could finally realize the returns for the education was not substantial enough to warrant time away from labour market.

I do not believe that university education is intended for elite few, in order for more people to benefit from the education, being it completing higher education, universities need to supply the skills the market rewards.

Because "return to" is the real phrase. You can say "the return on the education" (here you are viewing education as an investment) or "the return to the education". When the word "return" is used as a noun, "return on/to" is the only possible combinations you have.

The thirty-second essay

The development of technology changes the way people interact with each other. In which way does it change the type of relationship that people make? Does it have positive or negative effect on the development?

Answer:

In this day and age, as technology is developing rapidly in communicational area, people have changed their ways of communication. Consequently, people have transform their relationship type via this sort of technology as they can interact with other people wherever their are. However, this brings many positive effects as well as negative effects on the development.

Indeed, communicational technologies such as the Internet and telecommunication have changed people's relationship types. For instance, people can handle banking transaction at home on the Internet instead of facing the banking assistants at the bank. Besides, youngsters also can find new friends on the Internet wherever they are. Additionally, soldiers who are defending frontier can talk with their family members for the sake of easing their homesickness. Therefore, it seems that people have greatly benefited from communicational technologies.

In terms of development, undoubtedly, communicational technologies have contributed more. First and foremost, people can interact with others by long distance, which is the efficient communicational way. As a consequence, people can save more time on the road and have more time to do else things. More precisely, human society have walked in a new era which is high efficient and less time-consuming by communicational technologies.

However, at the same time, there might be some negative effects caused by communicational technologies. Because many things can be done without really meeting people, in the course of time, some could be lack of sufficient abilities to deal with persons face to face. By that, people could be alienated from each other.

Summarily, communicational technologies allow people to communicate with each other long distance, and those bring both positive effects and negative effects on the development as well.

Discuss both and give your own opinion,换句话说,两方观点都要讲。而你写的偏向于do you agree or disagree.

1. countries with higher disparities of income are worse in all manner of social indicators,这里原文用的是fare worse on,觉得好高端,是神马个用法?
2. the reforms will strike most negativity,这里原文用的是pernicious,可以换成malignance吗?

题目:
Nowadays, the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing, discuss the causes and the solutions.

Causes:
1. China: tax forms & monopoly
2. America: share of income goes to the top -- financial sector
3. Globalization and techonology
Solutions:
1. Focus on pushing up the bottom  rather than dragging down the top
2. Cut the subsidies
In a freer world skill and intellect would still be rewarded

正文:
The debate about inequality is an old topic, but in the wake of world recession several economists now reckon that inequality was the root cause of financial crisis, other critics suggest that countries with higher disparities of income are worse in all manner of social indicators, from higher murder rates to lower life well-beings.

The gap between rich and poor has risen in emerging economies such as China as well as in many developed countries especially America. But the reasons for this differ. In China inequality has a lot to do with its irrational tax regulation and state-dominated monopoly. In America inequality began to widen in last generation because the share of income goes to the top particularly those working in financial sector. Furthermore, globalization lets unskilled jobs move to cheaper countries, technology brings well-educated labours high premium.

Viewed from this perspective, the right way to combat inequality is as clear as crystal. On one hand, without some discriminated tax rules it is unable to narrow the gap, but overly prescriptive rules that fossilize economy in its current form could indeed hamper innovation. In other words, policymakers need to focus on pushing up the bottom rather than dragging down the top. On the other hand, governments should get rid of subsidies that favour specific industries. Forcing bankers to hold more capitals and breaking up monopolies are undoubtedly positive for society’s safety.

Such reforms would not narrow all income disparities, in a freer world skill and intellect would still be rewarded, reducing global trade barrier is something to be welcomed. But the reforms will strike most negativity and allow more people to move upwards.

TOPIC:
Nowadays, the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing, discuss the causes and the solutions.
Plan:
cause:
technology  : developed country and developing country
society         : weak legal system and useless administration, capital grab wealth by manipulating market
solutions:
international aid
wealth redistribution by balanced taxation

ANSWER:
The rapid economic growth creates a vast deal of new wealth but it also has led to a growing gap between rich and poor.
Such kind of situation can be found not only between developed countries and developing countries, but also among different social levels.
Therefore, this inequlity should be addressed respectively.

Due to historic reasons, some countries are left far behind others in almost every aspect, especially in terms of science and technology, which have been utilized by the latter to steal enormous amount of wealth from the former.  With the globalization, many technic-previliged countries seek to perform apparently unequal trades with lesser-advanced countries, for example,  by authorizing a relatively low-end technology to the latter, in return the former are permitted to exploit rare natural resources in their territories with unbelievable low price. In my point of view, this kind of transactions is actually a disguised invasion in the form of economic, which should be held responsible for the poverty in some countries and regions.

I think international aid for poor countries is crucial for mitigating this phenomenon. International organizations, such as United Nations and World Bank, should provide support to them in both technical  and financial fields, enabling them to improve infrastructures and strengthen industries, therefor they could be involved in international businesses at an even level.

In addition to above-metioned issues, at a small scale, the wealth gap among different social groups should be attributed to injudicious domestic policies. The weak legal system and useless administration have allowed the greedy capital to grab huge money by manipulating market. In china for example, a lot of companies invest in real estate and compromise the price at an incredible high level, in which case the average-income people have to give out all their saving for one small house. Furthermore, unreasonable taxation system also plays a vital role in widening the gap. Again taking China as an evidence, the 80% revenue of government is from ordinary employees in 2001, which is such heavy a burden for them and leaves them with poverty.

It is a necessity for the government to introduce balanced taxation and enforce administration over marketing, so that the wealth could be redistributed evenly. Otherwise, never could the gap be reduced between the rich and the poor. Governments are supposed to be judicious after all.

The thirty-third essay

In some countries, governments are encouraging industries and businesses to move out of large cities and into regional area, do you think advantage of this development outweigh its disadvantage.

Answer:

Currently, as increasing industries and businesses are boosting in some large cities, governments start to encourage them to relocate to regional areas. In my view, the strengths of this development might not outweigh its weaknesses.

Undoubtedly, the industries and businesses in large cities will cause severe environmental problems. For instance, some manufactories could discharge a vast deal of poisonous gap to the air and drain a great number of effluent sewage directly to the rivers. Likewise, the great many of vehicles owned by enterprises and factories not only also emit numerous exhaust but also put a strain on the already crowded ground of cities. In particular heavy trucks, they also make terrible noise and earthshock which are greatly disturbing the residents who live near the roads. Because of these, it seems businesses and industries might be relocated soon.

However, factories and companies provide employment opportunities as well. I assume that all the companies and factories have moved to the regional areas, thus cities would become quieter and air and water would more clear than before. Subsequently, people might find that they are hardly to get a job in the cities because all the enterprises and factories have gone. Therefore, they have to move to regional area or drive a long distance for jobs. In the course of time, regional areas will become new cities and the previous cities will become suburbs.

Summarily, in my view, even though industries and businesses make environmental problems and disturb some inhabitants, but they offer employment opportunities to residents as well. Because job opportunities are vital to people, thus I think this development's disadvantage outweigh its advantages.
