The thirty-ninth essay

Today there is a great increase in anti-social behaviour and lack of respect to others. What are the cause of this? What measure can be taken to reduce this problem?

Answer:

As human society is developing rapidly in various areas in this day and age, somehow, greatly increasing anti-social behaviour has occurred and people become less respect to others than before. In this essay, I will analyse some probable reasons and propose some solutions.

Undoubtedly, the extremely pressure from work and fast-paced life might cause people's behaviour aggressive. Particularly in some developing countries, the competition are fierce, people have to adjust themselves to this surrounding for the sake of surviving or living comfortably. As a consequence, they could become selfish and alienate each other. Likewise, people might under extremely pressure when they are in competition or fast-paced life. Those negative emotions could cause people aggressive. Consequently, their behaviour might anti-social and testy and even destructive because their pressure might not be eased. In the course of time, people might treat other people unamiably just like disrespect they experienced from others.

So, it seems to this vicious circle is due to the pressure. In order to relieve the pressure to people that needs governments and companies to make concerted efforts. It is unavoidable that a nation's rapid development is accompanied by citizens' fast-paced life. However, Government should make some laws to adjust people's work time to a moderate level such as restrict overtime work and augment the vacations. Similarly, companies should provide some breaks properly during work time and some amusement facilities to their employees. Personally, I believe that not only relieve people's pressure in a proper way but also give they more time so that they can communicate with others.

Summarily, In my view, increasing anti-social behaviour and people disrespect each other are caused by the pressure from fast-paced life and fierce competition. But provided that governments and companies provide people more leisure time to allow them relieve pressure and communicate each other, this problem would be improved.

The fortieth essay

Some people think women should be allowed to join the army, the navy and the air force just like men . To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Answer:

In this day and age , a host of people claim female should be permitted to join the army but the rest do not think so. Both of them have different reasons to support their views.

In terms of physical strength, most of women weaker than men has been confirmed by scientists. They cannot have enough ability to carry heavey things and lack stamina that cannot like men's do. More extremely, some claim women should bearing and rearing children at home or pursue some light occupation such as nurse. On top of that, females' participation could drive up increasingly high crime rate in the army.

Even though female soldiers own their weaknesses, but those cannot hinder them become great soldiers. This point is the best illustrated with the example of Hua MuLan. She is brave, intellectual and always exercises herself to defeat men in the cold-weapon era. Currently, to win a war is not just depending on strengths but technologies. Women have more circumspection then can control some sort of military machines better than men. Likewise, the aidman is a accurate vocation which the female soldiers can be competent for.

Therefore, just in terms of discrimination, women should be allowed to join the army as their wish like men. Furthermore, female soldiers' beauty could make hardhearted armies more warm ,lovely and vivid.

The forty-first essay

Air travel can only benefit the richest people in the world. The ordinary people can get no advantage with the development of air travel. To what extant do you agree or disagree?

Answer:

As human transportations are rapidly developing in this day and age, travel by aeroplane has been a normal thing. Whether just richest people can benefit from that has become a frequent topic to discussion.

Indeed, the richest will benefit from travel by plane. First and foremost, air travel is the fastest means of transportation nowadays the richest can choose thereby making their travel comfortable and timesaving. By contrast, because it is the fast and provides nice services to passengers thus the airline tickets have the costliest price of means of transportation. Richest people might not worry about money, so they can enjoy their air travel and fly frequently wherever their destinations are far or near.

However, because of development of air transportation, the airline tickets have not as costly as before. As a consequence, ordinary people can afford air travel now. Probably, they will not choose air travel when they not hurry on with their journey as the prices of airlines are relative expensive than other transport. But when their destinations are far away from them or in emergency, they also can afford air travel. Additionally, there are many of low-fare airline tickets airways provided to common people. So it seems they can get the advantages of air travel as the richest do.

Summarily, in my view, travel by aeroplane is not the richest people's privilege. Since the airline tickets common people could afford and many of low-fare airlines they could choose. Consequently, common people can get the advantages of air travel just like richest people do.

The forty-second essay

Most countries want to improve standard of living through economic development, however, others think social value is lost as a result. Do you think the advantages of economic development outweigh the disadvantages?

Answer:

In this day and age, the citizenry of a nation whose living standard has reflected the nation's wealth and strength as well as status. Thus, most countries on this planet start to focus on developing their economies thereby improving citizens' living standards, while others believe that might sacrifice the social value.

Indeed, economic development has improved people's living standards obviously. First and foremost, economic development promotes citizens' consumption. In terms of import, people have been allowed to purchase some goods they might never seen before or out of season. Likewise, the high sales of goods contribute great profits to enterprises and factories. More precisely, the main contributor of people's increasing salaries is their companies obtain profits. As a consequence, more incomes enable people to buy more goods. This virtuous cycle has made people's living increasingly happy.

However, others think economy might develop at the expense of social value. That might because the economic development is accompanied by globalisation, more precisely, the impact of the foreign cultures' aggression. Undoubtedly, developing economy is unavoidable to confront foreign cultures and suffer the cultural impacts. But as global village has linked the people all around the world together currently, that has been a unavoidable development. Additionally, economic development might make citizens money-worshipping. As a matter of fact, the wide gap between the needy and the wealthy has existed in many developed countries.

Summarily, in my opinion, economic development has improved people's living standards greatly, even though that might create cultural aggression and the gap between needy people and rich people, but that is a unavoidable development. The citizenry of a nation whose living standards reflect the nation's wealth and strength as well as status.

The forty-third essay

Technological progress in the past century has its negative effect, despite its remarkable contribution. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Answer:

As technology has developed greatly in this day and age, that was accompanied by some negative effects in past century. Even though human has benefited from that development enormously, but humankind has paid huge costs for compensation and they will continue to pay.

Undoubtedly, technological progress absolutely contributes lots to human society. For instance, Lamps make our night not dark any longer, Aeroplanes allow people to fly around the earth, people find their living convenient due to household electrical appliances' help. However, technology also contributes much to war and environmental destruction.

Unfortunately, technological development helps wars becoming more destructive and catastrophic than before. As long as human exist, there wars occur. From cold-weapon era, human might not stop to fight each other. Subsequently, the powder had been invented. As a consequence, human could kill others easily. In the modern century, scientists innovate the nuclear bomb. That terrible weapon has made not only numerous people losing their families but also severe environmental pollution.

In terms of environmental problem, technological progress has put diverse pollution on this planet. First and foremost, the development of fossil fuel has created serious air and water pollution on the earth. Greenhouse effect makes the climate around the world increasing harsh, which caused by poisonous gas human factories and transportation exhausted. Additionally, technological development has stretched invaluable natural resources to the limit. In the course of time, the future generation of Homo sapiens might hardly survive due to resource shortage of the earth.

Summarily, personally, I agree with that although people have benefit from technological progress in various area in the past century, but that also cause huge disasters to the humankind.

The forty-fourth essay

The survey shows that in many countries, the people are living longer but increased life expectancy has many implications for the aging individuals and for society as a whole. What are the possible effects of longer living for individuals and society?

Answer:

As the humankind has developed rapidly in various areas in this day and age, human life expectancy is increasing in some countries as well. However, people live longer might cause some probable effects to elder individuals and the whole society.

No doubt that, increased life expectancy could lead "silver tsunami" to countries. More precisely, the quantity of a nation's senior citizens will increase. As a consequence, ageism might be occurred in those countries because elder people generally need younger population's support in terms of medical care and financial support and they might less contribute to society. Likewise, due to the age discrimination, elderly people might live in dilemma. On the one hand, they might not want just receive the help from government and other taxpayers but continue to contribute to society. On the other hand, their health condition restrict them to work like young population.

At the same time, government has to distribute more budget to health care and pensions for senior citizens. It means growing aging of population might put great pression on the social welfare. To some extent, it might be unfair to the young taxpayer.

However, the citizenry of a nation living longer reflect that country humanitarian and lodgeable. Because of the clean environment, nice living standard and reasonable social welfare, population's life expectancy is increasing.

Summarily, in my view, longer living causes the "silver tsunami" to human society. That brings pressure to social welfare and ageism which makes elderly people unhappy. But population's longer life reflects the nations humanitarian and lodgeable.

The forty-fifth essay

Some people think zoos are cruel and all the zoos should be closed. However, some people think zoos are useful to protect the rare animals. Discuss both of these views and give your opinion.

Answer:

As humankind is increasingly care about animal welfare in this day and age, whether all the zoos should be closed has become a frequent topic to discussion. Some people believe that is cruel animals are closed in the zoos, whilst others think that could protect endangered animals.

Indeed, closing animals in the zoos that is unfair and inhuman to those animals. First and foremost, they will lose their freedom in the zoos. More precisely, zoos just like prisons where incarcerate the innocent animals and restrict them in small areas. Not only has it deprived animals' rights but also it could lead the animals losing their wild nature. They might become fewer abilities to seek foods independently as other wild animals. Instead, they might start to depend on human feeds. As a consequence, those animals might not adapt themselves to the nature any more but spending their life in the zoos.

However, zoos also provide safe shelters to animals. In particular endangered animals, they might live in safety and comfort and own many of descendants in the zoos until they die naturally. By contrast, animals in the nature might meet threats probably every day such as the natural enemies' attacks, diseases and famine. As a result, there perhaps rare animals could live longer in the natural world.

Personally, since human do not know the animals' real minds. I assume maybe every animal has its own personality just like human. Some like peaceful life and some like adventure. But I am sure there is one thing same as human - to survive.

Summarily, although zoos restrict the animals' freedom but those also protect the animals, particularly endangered animals avoiding the risks from the natural world. In my view, animals naturally want to survive just like humankind.

Shan,It is impressive to read your essays. The advance you have made is definitely great!
For study,I tick off some sentences which may have some mistakes in my opinion as following.

A."Some people believe that is cruel animals are closed in the zoos."
-> Some people believe that it is cruel to close animals in zoos.

B."Indeed, closing animals in the zoos that is unfair and inhuman to those animals."
-> Indeed, closing animals in zoos is unfair and inhuman to those creatures.

C."it could lead the animals losing their wild nature."
-> it could lead the animals to lose their wild nature.

D."They might become fewer abilities to seek foods independently as other wild animals."
-> The ability to seek foods independently might become lower than other wild animals.

E."own many of descendants in the zoos until they die naturally."
-> Change own to have will be better.
You can own something.Or you can express : They have their own descendants.

G."As a result, there perhaps rare animals could live longer in the natural world."
-> As a result, perhaps, rare animals could live longer in the natural world.

Logic is wonderful.Pay more attention to the use of sentence structure will be better.

The forty-sixth essay

Travel by air is becoming cheaper and cheaper. Some people think it is beneficial, but other people think it has drawbacks to environment and the resources of the world. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Answer:

As air transportation is developing rapidly in this day and age, the prices of air travel have become increasingly cheaper. some people believe it is harmful to environment and the resources around the world, but others think it is a beneficial development.

Undoubtedly, people would get great benefits from cheap air travel prices. First and foremost, they can travel faster and further than before and might not worry about the costly prices any more. As aeroplane is the fastest and the most comfortable means of transportation currently, people can spend less time on their journey and enjoy good services during the time. Cheaper prices of air travel allow people to choose such convenient transport. In particular needy people and exotic labours, the expensive fees on journey before might restrict them to visit their families who are far away from them, but those have gone now.

However, cheap airline tickets also greatly drive airways' overhead costs up since those are the main incomes of airline companies. Instead, they might choose low quality fuel for the sake of cutting down their operating costs. As a result, there numerous of poisonous gas could be discharged to the air directly. Additionally, cheaper prices of air travel promote the demands of flights. Airways have to boost the flights for satisfying the high demands. Consequently, that boosts the consumption of fuel and put the pressure on natural resources.

Summarily, in my view, cheap prices of air travel obviously benefit people. Even though cheap price might harm airways' profits thereby causing some environmental problems and boosting natural resources consumption, but I believe airways could make some measures such as making different ticket prices in a flight instead of using low quality fuel and increasing flights to resolve overhead costs' problem.

The forty-seventh essay

It has been suggested that everyone in the world want to own a car, a TV and a fridge. Do you disadvantages of such a development outweigh advantages?

Answer:

As many of countries on this planet are developing rapidly in this day and age, every people has been suggested to want to own a car, a TV and a fridge. In my view, it is a sort of waste when everyone really owns those things.

Undoubtedly, the suggestion reflects people's good living standards in developing countries in present-day society. The car means people can use the convenient transportation to get to their destinations; the TV refers to people would have enough entertainments to relieve their pressure; the fridge implies people have sufficient foods to enjoy their every single day. But most of people not living single, they might always live with their family. Thus that is unnecessary to own those things everyone but a family.

However, if everyone really owns those things, the world could become more polluted and crowded than before and the natural resources would be under pressure. First and foremost, this planet has a population of about seventy billion. If everyone owns a car, there are seventy billion cars altogether. I would be hard-pressed to imagine that how many poisonous gas discharged by cars could be directly emitted to the air everyday. Likewise, these cars also need ground to park, while the ground in the cities is limited. Additionally, seventy billion refrigerators and television as well as cars could put heavy pressure on natural resources because they will use numerous petrol and electricity for running.

Summarily, everyone owns a car, a TV and a fridge reflects people's good living standards. However, that also would make our world polluted and crowded and would put heavy pressure on natural resources. Personally, because of the reason I mentioned upon, the disadvantages of this development outweigh advantages.

The forty-eighth essay

People's attitude towards international travel tunes to be more prejudiced instead of open-minded. Why & Solutions.

Answer:

As human transportation has developed rapidly in this day and age, people have been allowed to travel around the world. Somehow, their attitudes towards international travel become biased. In this essay, I will analyse some probable reasons and propose some solutions.

First and foremost, the misunderstanding caused by cultural difference between the tourists and the locals is the main reason of bias. Even though globalisation as well as global village has linked the people and countries on this planet closer than before, but every country always has its own cultural identity. As a consequence, different cultures could create conflicts and misunderstanding between the tourists and the locals thereby creating bias as well. Likewise, many of couriers currently might often prompt tourists to purchase goods and souvenirs instead of guiding them to visit tourist attractions, which end up causing tourists to have bad impressions and prejudice against the countries they visited.

However, the governments' efforts would improve this situation. The most important measure they can take is to publicise the taboos of their culture which could severely cause the conflicts between tourists and locals. Similarly, they would also publicise their culture and places of interest for the sake of letting tourists around the world really understanding their cultural identities and the countries' prides. In addition, as long as governments could take actions to restrict tourist agencies' promotional behavior, tourists might enjoy their visits and know the national culture really.

Summarily, In my opinion, the misunderstanding and tourist agencies' promotional behavior cause tourists' bias. But governments might take measures to publicise their cultural identities and regulate agencies' behavior in order to improve the situation.

The forty-ninth essay and report

Laterly, more and more work has to be done by machines. Do you think the positive effects of this development outweigh the negative effects on individuals and society?

Answer:

As human society has developed rapidly in various areas in this day and age, there increasing labour-saving machinery and labour-replacing machinery have occurred. Consequently, whether its positive effects outweigh negative effects has been a frequent topic to discussion.

Undoubtedly, people have greatly benefited from those machines in present-day society. First and foremost, many of people might not be tied down by the most of household chores any more due to household electric appliances' help. Now they can have more time to study, do exercises and accompany their family members. Likewise, the manufacturing equipment in factories not only save workers' labour for work but also make workshops more productive and effective than before. However, because many of people's work have been replaced by machines, there some of negative effects might be appeared.

Admittedly, the rate of unemployment might be boost because of the development of labour-replacing machinery. More precisely, machines have sufficient abilities to compete with persons for job opportunities. For instance, machinery is needless to pay, rest and sleep so they can be employed to work all the time for free. Even though they need person to operate and control but the human employees would be downsized due to machines. However, machinery cannot really replace human in various areas currently.

Summarily, humankind has greatly benefited from machinery's work. Although it can boost the rate of joblessness, but in my view, as machines cannot really replace persons' work in various areas, so I believe the positive effects of this development outweigh its negative effects.

The charts below show the results of a survey of adult education. The first chart shows the reasons why adults decide to study. The pie chart shows how people think the costs of adult education should be shared.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Answer:

the charts illustrate the consequences of a survey of adult education. The bar chart describes the causes of adults determine to study and the pie chart summarises how people believe the costs of adult education should be shared.

According to the bar chart, there are seven reasons in the chart: interest in subject, to gain qualifications ,helpful for current job, to meet people and so on. More precisely, interest in subject occupy the largest proportion (40%) of the reasons for study and the second large proportion is accounted for 38% by to gain qualifications. By contrast, to meet people represent the smallest percentage (9%).

We can see from the pie chart that three groups should share in the costs of each course. To be more exact, individual occupy 40% and employer constitute 35% while taxpayer just make up 25%.

Therefore, it can be clearly seen from two the charts that most of people study for interest in subject and most of people think individual should share in the costs of adult education.

The fiftieth essay and report

Some people think that men and women have different qualities. Therefore, some certain jobs are suitable for men and some jobs are suitable for women. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Answer:

The difference between men and women is a frequent topic to discussion. In terms of different qualities between men and women, some people believe jobs should be segregated by gender.

As a matter of fact, the different qualities between men and women definitely affected their performances in different jobs before. In terms of physical qualities, most of men are stronger than women. As a consequence, most of men can be competent for heavy physical labour whereas women might hardly adjust themselves to take this kind of jobs. Likewise, women also have their inherent advantages then men. To some extent, women are more patient, careful and circumspective than men. Therefore, they might perform better than men in some occupation such as nurse and so on.

However, as technology has developed rapidly in this day and age, the different qualities between men and women has created fewer effects in various occupations. Increasing labour-saving machinery and labour-replacing machinery can compensate women's strength, thus they also can control the machine to carry heavy things. Furthermore, some scientists have confirmed males and females working together can make employees happier and work more efficient because of effects of hormone. So it seems it is unnecessary to segregate jobs by gender currently.

Summarily, the different qualities between males and females obviously affected their performances in various jobs before. But currently, as technology has developed, the difference has been slight. Additionally, men and women work together can make them happier and work more effective. Because of those, personally, I disagree with segregating jobs by gender.

The graph below shows radio and television audiences throughout the day in 1992.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature, and make comparisons where relevant.

Answer:

The line graph describes radio and TV audiences throughout the day in the Britain from October to December in 1992.

According to the line graph, the population of UK over 4 years old watched TV rose before around 8:00 pm and declined after about 8:00 pm. More exactly, at first at approximately 7:00 am about 3% population watched TV. After that, the proportion fluctuated went up to around 15% over about next 7 hours and continued to increase to the highest point at just over 43% around 8:00 pm. Then the line started to dip rapidly until about 5% just under 1:00 am and finally became stable at 5% after around next 5 hours.

As show in the line graph, unlike the TV, the population of Britain over 4 years old listened radio rose before just under 9:00 am and dipped after that time. More precisely, initially, there about 8% population listened radio just over 6:00 am. Then it shot to the peak at roughly 28% around 9:00 am. Finally, the line started to decline stably until around 5% just under 6:00 am.

Therefore, it can be clearly seen from the graph that about 43% population of UK over 4 years old watched TV around 8:00 pm and approximately 28% population listened radio around 9:00 am.

今天终于知道不可数名词单复数问题了。
例如many transportation are
transportation is
关键是看前面是不是有many或者相关的量词。
