About the role:



Thales Australia Air Traffic Management (ATM) domain provides leading edge airspace control and security solutions for the commercial and Defence sectors. Technologies supplied by the ATM global centre of excellence, based in Melbourne, are currently deployed in Australia and across the Asia Pacific region. Thales offers the opportunity to work within large, complex systems that are crucial to maintaining aircraft and passenger safety.



We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Hardware Integration Engineer specializing in Networking to join the busy Melbourne team. This role is responsible for the provision of hardware integration activities and expertise to the respective projects and bids. This role will be responsible for the selection of networking equipment, allowing delivery from concept to acceptance.



Key responsibilities:

  
•System modelling and simulation  
•Complex system functional analyses and designs  
•System/subsystem integration, testing and validation  
•Liaising with internal engineering departments and contractors to ensure successful integration and interfacing of system components
•Developing and documenting all relevant processes  
•Defining equipment configuration for the system interface
•Support configuration changes to system platforms in factory and customer sites.

  



Key skills and experience:


•Tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline with extensive demonstrated experience in a similar position in a mission critical or real time environment
•Good level of knowledge and experience with UNIX/LINUX (Redhat distribution preferred) Operating System, including Kernel configuration and performance tuning.
•Familiarity with a wide range of Computer and Networking hardware (preferably Cisco)
•Experience in large and distributed networked computer systems
•Strong computer and communication skills are required, as is the ability to think outside the square.
