Hello,
I need to get approval of my engineering degree by Engineers Australia, the CDR way. I have the following question, and would be glad if anyone can help me.
I got my B.SC engineering degree in Electronics in 2004. Before that I was already working in engineering position, since I have a Practical Engineer diploma from 1996 (2 years college). I want to apply for Professional Engineer, but big part of my working experience is from before the time I got the B.Sc. Actually, while studying the B.Sc. I was already working as engineer part time job, based on my Practical Engineer diploma.
Here are the questions :
1. When I submit the CDR do I need to submit only the B.Sc diploma copy or also for the Practical Engineer? Please consider that my CV and career episodes include all the engineering jobs I took before I got the B.Sc. Is it better not to include pre-B.Sc. experiences in the career episodes?
2.Although I did not have the B.Sc, I was working in positions that in my opinion can be accounted as Professional engineer experience. Can I refer to position as Professional Enginerr experience although I did not have B.Sc. at that time?
Thanks in advance,
Alex
I completed my qualification in 2007. I applied for CDR using my B.sc. only. I didn't attach a CV or any employer reference letter. and I got a positive assessment as a professional engineer (Architectural engineer 2129-79).
You maybe can do the same, that it is not to show your experience. And, in my opinion, if you showed it, it will be a plus.
I advice you to look in Australian universities for Electronic engineering programs, compare your qualification with the ones they offer. If you feel they match yours, it will add up to your confidence. Otherwise, you will need to show all your work experiece and how it makes up for what you are lacking.
I hope I helped

Engineers Australia guidelines state atleast 1 year of engineering work experience.
If you can write three career episodes that demonstrate all compentencies required, you are most likely to get positive skills assessment...
Refer to SOL/ENSOL list - all occupations that fall under Engineer - ... are supposed to be assessed by EA. |
