We are going to walk at Royal National Park for this Sunday March 7, 2010.

Garie Beach to Garawarra to Burning Palms Circuit

This circuit track of 13.5 KM will take 6-7 hours, with "medium-hard" grade. This track could be adjusted (to shorten or other tracks around Garie Beach), depending on weather condition for this Sunday.

Using a variety of tracks, this walk follows the coast as well as going inland to Garrawarra Farm. With great coastal views and a magnificent palm jungle, this walk demonstrates perfectly, the diversity of the Royal National Park. Of historical significance are the houses scattered along the coast that were built during the depression. Take some time along the way to have a cool down at one of the many fantastic beaches.

The meeting time and place

9:30 AM 7th of March, Sunday, at car park of Garie Beach YHA,  Garie of Royal National Park.

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

It is compulsory to have your name, contact number, the contact details in emergency if you are willing to join bushwalking/hiking with bushwalking and Circleyue. We will not disclose your any personal information to third party without your consent. See 1# of "Sydneyhiking Club" for more terms and conditions.

Please SMS 0402 817 164 or MSN petercai08@hotmail.com for your confirmation.

Outdoor activities carry their own risks of injury and death. The Organizer has no any control over what the participant does, and cannot accept any liability for any loss or accidents which the participant might suffer.

The scheduled bushwalking on this Sunday March 14 is swap to this Saturday March 13 due to personal reason.

Following part Coastal Walk at Royal National Park last Sunday March 7, we are going to walking at another part of this National Park this Saturday, March 13.

Wattamolla to Garie Beach (return track of 15 KM, 660 meters ascent, 6-7 hours, grade: medium)

The Wattamolla to Garie Beach walk is a scenic coastal stroll which takes you along the top of the coastal cliffs, before dropping down to the fantastic Garie Beach. The coastal cliffs give views out to sea, with many ledges also giving views down onto the waves crashing into the rock. The descent onto Garie Beach has some of the best views of coastline in the Royal National Park.

The meeting time and place

9:30 AM of March 13, Saturday, at Car Park at the end of Wattamolla Road, Royal National Park.

Six of us walked (return) track of 15 KM with 660 meters ascent from Wattamolla to Garie Beach for 7 hours.  But this is no enough, we walked additional (return) track of 3.3 KM with 240 meters ascent from Garie Beach to Campground of North Era for another 1 hour. Everyone enjoyed very much with different experience.

Wish we could make six-foot-track of Blue Mountains next weekend March 20/21 if weather permits.

We are going to walk at Dharug National Park this Saturday May 1, 2010.

Devines Hill and Finchs Line Circuit

This loop track of 10 KM with "easy" grade will take 4-5 hours

A great walk with a mixture of historic remnants of the Old Great North Rd, and some beautiful views over the Hawkesbury river and other valleys. Most of this walk follows parts of the convict built road, and a number of information signs along the way give a good insight into the construction and history of the road, making the walk more interesting. The last section of the walk, along Wisemans Ferry Rd, has some great views of the cliffs above. The historic Thomas James bridge, just before the end of the walk, is the oldest in-use bridge on mainland Australia

The meeting time and place

10:00 AM, Saturday 1st of May, at the car park of of Portland Head Park of Wisemans Ferry
GPS S33º22´45.2064", E 150º59´11.133"

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

It is compulsory to have your name, contact number, the contact details in emergency if you are willing to join bushwalking/hiking with bushwalking and Circleyue. We are going to walk at Lane Cove National Park (Sydney) this Saturday May 8, 2010.

There are three options for the tracks, and all starting/finishing points could be accessed by car, train.

Eastwood to Thorneligh (one way)
Eastwood to Thorneligh (return way)
Eastwood to Hornsby via Thronleigh (one way)

Eastwood to Thornleigh ((10.4 KM, 3.0-3.5 hours, 320 meters ascent for one way; or 21 KM, 6-7.5 hours, 500 meters ascent for return way)
This walk explores Terrys Creek and the Lane Cove National Park. From Eastwood station the track follows Terrys creek past a small waterfall, under the M2, past Browns Water hole and along the Lane Cove river before climbing up to Thornleigh Oval and the train station. There are picnic tables at Browns waterhole, not a bad place for lunch, otherwise there are a few nice creek banks to rest along the way

Eastwood to Hornsby via Thronleigh (20 KM, 6-8 hours, 810 meters ascent)
Initially following Terry's Creek, and then the Lane Cove River, this walk goes through some of the prettier sections of the Lane Cove National Park before climbing up to Thornleigh and continuing into the Berowra Valley Regional Park. Following Berowra Creek and the side of the valley, the surrounds change from the wet environment of Lane Cove to the dry scrub and bushland of Berowra. The walk continues until climbing out, up to Hornsby Railway Station, through a remnant of the old Blue Gum High Forest.

9:30 AM, Saturday 8th of May, at the car park of Railway Pde of Eastwood.

Finally we took the last option

Eastwoood to Hornsby, 20 .26  KM with 810 meters ascent. This track include Terry's Creek Walk and part of Great North Walk.

We walked for 5 hours including 10 min morning tea and another 20 min lunch break at Fishbond, and enjoyed very much.

There will not be any activity until early June due to my overseas hiking.

See all of you guys on the first Sunday (June 6, 2010), one week before heading to  "女王节雪山行" snow mountains of Victoria with Melbournehikning Club (June 12-14 long weekend).

Had great time in 四川 May 18 - June 2 2010

It was the second time to visit south-west China and the first time to 四川.

The aim  for this visit is to walk at the famous mountains such as Mt Emei and other mountains in 四川 and make new friends.  It was amaizing to see a lot of people (age range from 25 to 60's) ride bicycle from Chengu to Lhasa via "motorway 318" (which take about 25 days), and very few real walkers on the road (which will take 3-4 months) as well.

It is well known 成都小吃. I benfited very much from 成都小吃, and got plenty energy before hiking at the Mount Emei and others.

It took me 12 hours (one and half days) to complete hiking at 峨眉山 with 负重 14 KG.

Day one afternoon (from 3:00 PM), from  黄湾charge station -  报国寺 - 里音寺 - 纯阳殿 - 清音阁 - 猴区 - 清音阁 - 万年寺 - Xiaoping route - 万年寺 parking station (finishing at 7:30 PM, 22 KM with over 1000 meters 上升)

Day two (from 8:00 AM), from  万年寺 parking station - Xiaoping route - 万年寺 -  长老坪 - 华严顶 -  洗象池 - 雷洞坪 - 接引殿 - 金顶 (finishing at 15:30 PM, 32 KM with over 2000 meters 上升).

We spent other night days on 川西最后净土海螺沟,莲花湖,泉华滩及川西环线丹巴温泉之旅, and enjoyed very much with different experience.

I look forward to another 8 days hiking from Lugu lake to Yading in this September (2010) or next May (2011).

Re-visit Royal National Park Queen’s birthday long weekend (June 13-14 2010)

Costal walking at Royal National Park is always attractive. This track is one of my favor tracks and I walked whole track several times (for one day only) and enjoyed very much.  This long weekend (Queen’s birthday) with prefect weather forecast is favorable to two days walking with one night camping along the track; with additional bonus of seeing whales.

June 13, Sunday, Bundenna (8:30 am) - Wattamolla (Kiosk) (12:00-12:30 PM) -
Garie Beach (14:30-15:00 PM) - North Era Campground (15:30 PM)

June 14, Monday, Garie Beach (10:00 AM) - Otford (14:00 PM).

Meeting time and place for whom wishes to start walking from
Bundenna for Day one: 7:50 AM Sunday (June 13) at Garie Beach Car Park.
