Dear Sir/Madam:
I am currently preparing for off-shore GSM Visa application to Australia and my point test result is about 140 and my occupation is on CSL. According to the “Updated Priority Processing
Effective from 23 September 2009”, my situation will fall into category 4 – “Applications from people who are neither nominated nor sponsored but whose nominated occupation is listed on the CSL.” That is to say, I am a “175 CSL” applicant.
However, from the “Updated Priority Processing Effective from 23 September 2009” document, it seems that I can change my application into a higher priority category – category 2 – “Applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory government and whose nominated occupation is listed on the Critical Skills List (CSL).” by applying for a NSW state nomination. However, I noted that the NSW state nomination form indicates clearly that the NSW state nomination is only for sub-class 176/886.
To put it in a nutshell, can I apply for a NSW state nomination if my intended Visa sub-class is 175?
If the question to the first questions is yes, will my 175 CSL plus NSW state nomination be accepted by DAIC and be treated as category 2?
Thank you very much in advance!

Dear Mr XXX
In response to your email, we only provide sponsorship to visa sub class 176 so if your intended visa sub class is 175, we can't help you. However, if you wish to be sponsored by NSW Government, your nominated occupation, must be included in the list of occupations published in our website (www.business.nsw.gov.au/migration). I suggest you visit our website and check if your occupation is included and whether you meet the eligibility criteria.
