Offshore visa applicants
Note: Parents of any age may apply for one of the following visas:
• Parent (Class AX – Migrant) (subclass 103);
• Contributory Parent (Class CA – Migrant) (subclass 143); or
• Contributory Parent (Class UT – Temporary) (subclass 173) visa,
but they must be outside Australia when the visa is granted. Usually, persons
making such applications are outside Australia at the time of application.
However, offshore visa applicants may lodge an application while they are in
Australia unless they are legally prevented from doing so under migration
legislation. For example, persons will be prevented from applying while they
are in Australia if they have a ‘No Further Stay’ condition attached to the visa
that they hold at time of application.
