对哦,我现在说话也开始摇头了,怎么办?
Please refer to my post regarding their head-shake in http://www.freeoz.org:8126/ibbs/thread-1064602-12-1.html
Something about international language--Body language to keep you company for the day.
This is from an in-service on aggression de-escalating run by a security consultant in my previous hospital.
There is no doubt that when you are facing huge language barrier in which no other better way to pull yourself out of difficulty, you just node along with a smile, and nobody around you would get offended by this.
However, I would invite you to take precaution when the famous Indian node is involved. Usually, head-shaking and nodding means the same in certain part of India.
In northern India, nodding head means YES/AGREED, shaking head for NO/DISAGREED. but in southern India, its absolutely other way around. So, when you travel around India, sometimes you get confused with these signs when dealing with someone you have no idea which part they are from, you are gonna be frustrated to figure out what they really think of.
What's worst is when you are surrounded by a group of Indians from different areas, to the same questions, some are nodding along, others are shaking head. That will be when you get so devastated that you couldn't help but screaming: What are you guys doing to me, whatever that is, please tell me, just stop moving your bloody head! |
