The University of Western Australia is a member of the prestigious Group of Eight Universities in Australia and located in Perth, the Capital of Western Australia, which is ranked as one of the most liveable cities in the world.
The University is seeking to appoint a senior scholar with expertise in Chinese to direct the operation of the Confucius Institute (0.6 FTE) and provide leadership in the development of postgraduate teaching in Translation Studies within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (0.4 FTE). The Confucius Institute aims to promote Chinese language and cultural awareness and strengthen Western Australia-China links across business, government and the broader community. The Institute works closely with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences which offers Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian and Korean) and European Languages (French, German and Italian). The appointee will be proactive in networking and building productive relationships with internal and external partners.
