Position Requirements
Salary/ Remuneration Details       
Total remuneration package valued up to $108,318 p.a. (salary $89,076 - $98,159) including employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
Position Information       
Providing technical administration and support for database environments.
Position Criteria       
Extensive experience in designing and maintaining large Oracle RDB databases on VMS servers supporting Forte and Cobol applications. Extensive experience using RDB tools and associated utilities including, RMU, JCC Log Miner and DCL. Extensive experience with performance monitoring and SQL scripting, combined with demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and tune RDB databases. High level communication, problem solving and team skills. High level skills in management, liaison, coordination, planning and documentation of work and projects. Demonstrated knowledge of ITIL with experience developing and implementing systems administrative standards, policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to work with internal clients, external suppliers and technical specialists. Knowledge of and Commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policies.
Conditions

好老的系统啊, VMS专用的数据库, 还是DEC的时候卖给了Oracle.  这个VMS+RDB的活应该很轻松, 这系统超级超级稳定

原来公司有上百台Oracle on VMS。据我们用了１０多年VMS的同事说，从没听说过VMS死机。

是, 我也没遇到过VMS斯基, 学习VMS集群的时候, 老师说, VMS安装好后, 系统版可以拔下来, 我试了一次,拔下来, 果然没事, 就是有报警, 系统还在跑, 插上去, 一点事都没有.

我1999年到2003年在DEC VAX和Alpha小型机上工作过一段时间，OpenVMS/VMS系统，数据库用的是RDB。各方面都还算熟悉吧。VMS也不想大家想像的那么稳定，不过不用三天两头地打补丁和重启倒是真的。

我现在在找Oracle/SQL Server DBA的工作，我现在的简历里都没放这些经历了，真没有勇气再去把以前的东西捡起来了。

RDB支持RDO命令和SQL命令，有同学知道下列命令是做什么的吗？

RDO> FOR A IN ABC WITH A.NUMBER=1000 PRINT A.* END_F

什么？很眼熟！你和我一样老了！:-)

它等价于SQL的
SQL> SELECT * FROM ABC WHERE NUMBER=1000;

A在上条For语句中没有任何作用，算是个代词，你可以用任何单词。

you can try this gov job, mate. The pay is higher than most dba jobs.
Btw: oracle and optus are  looking for dbas.

Honestly, as we all know, those legacy systems are no futures.

来澳洲就是混日子的，工资照发就可以了。
You don't need future in Oz, esp if you can get a gov job like this. it's the same as in china.....
and i think they have a lot of oracle systems too. there will be internal opportunities.
