中介都收一笔相当于一周租金的rental trust吗?

在我的租房申请表中有一句话:
once the application has been approved I agree to pay a minimum of the first weeks rent to secure the property . The property will not be held until we receive the first weeks rent & the tenancy documentation has been signed by all parties.

In the event that the application is successful and acceptance is communicated and the first week's rent is paid ,but you I decide not to proceed, I agree that this money will be forfeited to your office . Upon communication of acceptance of this application by the agent I agreed that this tenancy shall be binding.

你们租房时都交过这笔钱吗?何时交啊?我上次在中介通知我申请成功但没看到合同时就要交这笔钱,这样算正常吗?

这笔钱叫做 deposit（订金） ，在正式签租房合同前交的，签好合同后，这笔deposit就是你第一周的房租。 你已经成功申请了租下这个房子（也就是中介已经打电话或者email通知你房东同意让你租），交了deposit，就等中介准备好合同签字了，很快就会正式签。 不交deposit，也就是并不真的想租这个房子，只是随便申请玩玩的，那就和中介说不交订金，不用准备合同了。
