It has been strikingly noticeable (非常引人注目) that Harvey is getting so clingy (粘糊/贴人) and needy for our company that he shows a sign of separation anxiety (分离焦虑) whenever we are leaving.
In order to keep me around, he continuously picks up different toys running to me and puts on the begging look with his bright eyes fixed on me (定定地盯着我), and then, he would observe my reaction to his choice of games and switch on different toys until I show my interest.
Sometimes, it hurts when I was too exhausted to pay any attention to his flattering moves (谄媚的举动), and it hurts even more when I realize that such a young creature has to try that hard to be granted my company.
So, while my guilt sets in (我感到内疚时), I would go to the extreme (走极端) doing something for him in return.
The major favor I have been doing him recently is that I have mocked (模仿) his humming noise by taking my language level down to his whenever I follow his lead in his game.
Nowadays, my family just have their ears striken with (震耳) our special noises---humming sound with low register (低沉的哼哼声).
This morning, I announced to my family: Today, I strongly request a day off from my full-time pooch-sitting post (照看狗狗的职位) to enjoy the day of my own. Recently, most of my time was spent with Harvey speaking his language. I started holding a serious concern that my eloquence in human language is about to fade away (我都快开始不善于说人话了).

see you on the flip side,我看词典说是明天见,下回见的意思.
这个flip我真听到的不多.
FOB, 哈哈,不是离岸价么
这个green,也有表示环保的意思.
如果说I'm green(我同事说过), 是说我注意环保,不是我是新手的意思吧?

You are right, when they say "I am green", it means environmentally cautious!
"Green hand" only means "NEW" to something where the special skills required!

Yeah, @MICHELLE07
No way for Zoe to get away from that responsibility.
And she starts speaking Harvey's language too, only my BOSS takes strong stand remaining himself!

Thanks for reminding me of this one, @newozer I haven't come across this expression in ages. Only when I was in America, someone said it to me once, and it was completely out of my vocabulary until now.
Thank you for finding that back for me!

I am playing the football with Harvey now.
Usually he is a fair player if we share the same chance to control the game.
But, If I dominated the control over the ball, he would show the manners as a sore loser: Jumping on me from the front to stop my moving, grabbing my shoe-laces to lash out his frustration.

Yesterday, I attended a seminar on non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (无创正压呼吸机).
The moment I saw the presenter, I let it out straight away: Oh, Michael, I attended your lecture before...
He looked at me: And you come back for more? Silly!
Everybody around us just burst into laughters, and I know for sure his remarks pretty much predict the fun tone for the whole day's seminar.
Please bear with me for more fun from this seminar!
Yeahoooo!

Opening speech of Michael's!
.....
I am on Twitter as well under a handle xxx, please follow me if you are interested in any ventilation related topics. And please spare me if you only would like me for a coffee or tea meeting, because I just don't have that kind of time yet, I am still in the middle of finishing off my master degree!
Why I am doing my master degree now? Well, I have been through the empty-nest syndrome (空巢症) after my children left home to be on their own, I couldn't figure out anything else better to do, and I definitely hate becoming a couch potato myself (整天坐在沙发上,无所事事).
Then I decided to go back to university seeking a master degree on critical nursing at age of 50+ (Here, please allow me to interject my own comments: Wow, Wow, Wow!).

Part two on opening speech:
....
For any questions you might have while this lecture is running, please feel free to stop me, I am quite happy to take any questions I am qualified for.
In the meanwhile, please be aware that there is absolutely no questions called dumb ones. Constantly asking questions is the best and fastest learning process.
For instance, children are continuously seeking answers to many new things they might come across, and they pick up the fastest. On the other hand, who has ever seen the 80+ year-olds working hard to sort out how to deal with many new devices and techniques...

A joke from Michael's lecture:
About normal range of the breath rate, some textbook even puts the normal lowest to 8 breath per minute. Well, I would be panic if any of my patients breathes at that rate, I am not quite sure how this rate comes about. Maybe, in different part of the world, people breathe differently.

Michael came up with a learning process called KASH, which stands for:
K---Knowledge
A---Attitude
S---Skill
H---Habit
He argued that it's very hard for a knowledgeable person to alter, to modify his habitual approach to accommodate the new technologies that goes against his belief system. Because his extended past experiences convinced him that he has been always right on everything. And his excellent past skills pulled him through all the tough changes along the way, and he has been well convinced that he would be able to survive all the new challenges to come with what he got onboard.
Well, not quite I am afraid. For this person to be kept updated on new techniques, I would say he would have to change his attitude towards what's coming. It doesn't work as it usually did any more, and not as anyone would assume it would either.

Regarding how "synchronization" (同步工作)works in a ventilated patient and how a ventilator should be customized (量身定做) to meet patients' individualized (按照个体需求) needs, Michael brought up two examples:
One: You saw someone carrying on 30kg's grocery on each hand, tugging along towards his car. You try to be helpful and ask him: Hey, Mr, would you like a hand with your grocery?
Mr is very grateful to your offer and gets ready to unload the weight on you. But you end up telling him: Sorry, I didn't mean now, I would have to go shopping first, after my strolling around the shopping center, I will come back to help you!
Do you think Mr would be happy with your offer? No, to think about "Synchronization" please!

Two: You can help Mr straight away and you can even pick him up on your shoulder, you put all the load on yourself now and ask Mr to take a break.
But you walk past his car and keep running further away, what do you think Mr would do now?
Well, I would be surprised if Mr started hitting you on the head and yelling at you: Put me down please, now!
Hello, to think about "Customized" ventilation now!

Micheal:
Bear that in mind please: No matter how much you would like to help patient, no matter how beneficial you believe your care plan would be to your patient, you should respect your patient, respect his participation in his own care. Because he knows himself better than anyone else, he knows what he needs.
So, you should stop patronizing (以高人一等的态度对待) and condescending (怀着优越感对待), and to modify your own approach and attitude to provide individualized care. Otherwise, you would never be a wonderful nurse you would like to be!

From Michael's lecture, I have learned so many other important tips on top of his topic-related knowledge. It amazed me how a serious lecture could be delivered in such a informative and joyful way.
I believe I really need to give a serious thought to my daily working approach! It's a priceless bonus I got from Michael's lecture!

Michael:
Personally, I am pedantic about (学究式的/不能迁就的) the customized nursing care all through my career. In the work settings, I have been a strong advocate for this patient-oriented (以病人需要为中心的) mechanical ventilating model (机械呼吸模式). That means what patients need is the best benchmark (最好的参照标准) with which an individualized program should be engineered to facilitate.
Patients have never got sick based on the textbook, and they never will, then they shouldn't be cared for according the textbook either.
What's written in textbook only serves a general guideline that defines what the safe practice should be, but it's never gonna be a universal care plan for every single individual.
That's how it fundamentally works in a successful nursing career, mind-blowing (令人绞尽脑汁的), mentally challenging but psychologically satisfactory if you make a significant difference in patients' recovery by respecting their individualized care needs!
