AMP suffered the biggest net loss from superannuation switching in the year to December 2006, losing ground to industry superannuation funds and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
The latest report on Superannuation Choice by Roy Morgan Research showed AMP lost 3.1 per cent from the super switching pool in the period, with the loss rising to 4.2 per cent in the December quarter.
The ING and ANZ joint venture experienced the next biggest drop among the major financial services companies, posting a net loss of 1.7 per cent, closely followed by AXA Asia Pacific.
The CBA improved its position the most, with a net gain of 2.5 per cent. That increased to 3.6 per cent in the final quarter.
Suncorp had a 3.1 per cent net gain in the last quarter, followed by NAB at 1.7 per cent.
The federal Government introduced the Superannuation Choice reforms on July 1, 2005, allowing about 5 million Australians to select their own fund managers for the first time.
The report found that the proportion of people switching remained steady at about 4 per cent in the past two quarters. |
