A polished build showcase rarely shows the hours spent replacing gear while your main skill keeps running out of resources. That is the real concern with Immaculate Adherence in PoE 2: equipping it is easier than making Divinity feel reliable. Before committing Path of Exile 2 Currency to the surrounding equipment, check two things: whether your skill rotation remains sustainable and whether your defenses still work after Energy Shield disappears.
What Immaculate Adherence Actually Changes
Immaculate Adherence is a unique Solar Amulet requiring level 30. It provides 10-15 Spirit, but its resource changes are the reason to build around it. Skills cost Divinity instead of Mana or Life, and 100% of maximum Energy Shield converts into maximum Divinity.
The catch is explicit: you cannot have Energy Shield. Equipment that previously supported a protective pool now contributes toward a skill resource instead. Keeping familiar Energy Shield gear does not mean keeping the same defensive setup.
The amulet also rolls 0-100% increased maximum Divinity. That range deserves attention when comparing copies, although the displayed roll alone cannot tell you whether your complete setup will function.
Solve Sustained Casting Before Chasing Damage
A larger Divinity pool gives you more room to spend, but capacity and recovery are different problems. The amulet's listed modifiers do not establish how your character will recover enough Divinity for sustained use. Do not assume your existing Mana recovery solves that problem.
Evaluate the rotation you actually play, including supporting skills used between attacks or spells. A setup that handles a short burst may still become awkward during a longer encounter.
◆ Check how much maximum Divinity your equipment and passive choices provide after conversion.
◆ Observe whether repeated use of your main skill drains the pool faster than your available recovery restores it.
◆ Test your full rotation rather than judging the setup from a few isolated casts.
If a damage upgrade leaves you unable to maintain that rotation, it may lower your practical output. Prioritize repeatable skill use before optimizing damage that only looks better during brief bursts.
Mana Still Has a Defensive Job
Skills moving away from Mana does not make Mana irrelevant. Immaculate Adherence specifies that 100% of damage is taken from Mana before Life. Meanwhile, the character cannot have Energy Shield.
That combination creates a separate check from Divinity sustain. You need enough Divinity to use skills, but you also need to assess your Mana pool and recovery under incoming damage. A successful casting test does not prove the character can survive pressure.
Compare both resource pools after equipment changes. Replacing an item for more converted Energy Shield may help skill capacity without addressing your defensive needs. Treat those as separate requirements rather than assuming one larger number fixes both.
Corrupted Gear Has a Resource Cost
Each corrupted item equipped applies 20% reduced maximum Divinity. An otherwise attractive upgrade can therefore shrink the resource pool supporting your rotation. Check the resulting maximum Divinity directly instead of evaluating the item's offensive modifiers in isolation.
Change one item at a time, then repeat the same sustained-use test. For a PoE 2 Immaculate Adherence build, consistency matters more than an impressive individual item. Even if cheap POE 2 Exalted Orbs make an upgrade affordable, spend only after confirming that it preserves both reliable skill use and a workable defensive setup.
