A myki card is durable and currently has an expiry of four years. Customers can view the expiry date of their myki card using a myki machine or myki check. Registered customers can view their card expiry via their myki online account, and will be contacted by email in advance of their card expiring to be advised how best to go about getting a replacement. This is one of the benefits of registering your myki.
We would like to remind customers to ensure their email address is up to date in order to get this important information to you. If you have an online account you can do this via myki.com.au, however if you don’t, simply call the call centre and our staff can help.
If your myki is approaching its expiry date and you don’t intend to travel immediately, simply complete a myki Replacement Form and you will be sent a new myki card. This myki will be pre-loaded with a full balance transfer from your expired myki. You should expect to receive the myki within 10 business days.
If the expiry date of your myki is less than 10 days away, or your card has already expired, and you need to travel immediately, you need to obtain a new myki in order to touch on and have a valid ticket. You can obtain a free on the spot replacement at the PTV Hub at Southern Cross Station and will need to lodge a myki Replacement Form in order to complete a balance transfer from your expired myki.
Alternatively, you can buy a new myki and request a refund of any remaining value on your expired myki. This value can be transferred as myki money to a myki card of your choice using Section C of the myki Refund & Reimbursement Form, or sent via cheque.
If you choose to buy a new myki, you can obtain a refund of the card fee. When you complete the myki Refund & Reimbursement Form, mark ‘Special consideration’ under Section D and indicate that your myki has expired under the ‘details of claim’. A myki Refund & Reimbursement Form completed in this way will result in the relevant card fee being added to a myki card of your choice in the form of myki money, or sent to you via cheque.
