标题: My 175 Got Approved on 2011/10/04 [打印本页] 作者: sendon1982 时间: 5-10-2011 01:01 标题: My 175 Got Approved on 2011/10/04 Today, when i checked my eVisa status, i found out it has been approved. But i do not feel as happy as I imaged before.
First of all, thanks to OZ forum and friends here which gives me so much useful information during the application process.
Second, i think i need to provide some information in return for those who helped me and those who are applying.
Finally, I have no idea what I should do now. Here is my situation:
I have been working in US for 2 years since my company sent me here from Shanghai. Company will consider to apply Green Card for us only if you have been in US for 5 years. Moreover, the Green Card process will easily take another 5 years at least. So I am kind of confused not know what to do now.

If you wanna stay in US, then wait for another 3 years to get green card visa. Or you can leave the US when you get that visa and move to Australia ( your PR visa is still valid in 2 out of 5 yrs). You can stay in Australia for 1 yr or so to decide which country you likes more. But you should make sure the green card visa will not be expired when you are offshore.

It's no trivial issue as you are struggling between 2 very different countries. Despite the fact that most Americans consider Aussies as their friends down under, the States is still a far cry from AU in terms of value, culture, pension system, etc. Which country you would end up staying revolves around the life goal you are seeking and you are the only person who knows yourself. Others cannot be the decision maker for you.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm not willing to help you out. It is said IT industry in US is much more advanced and has lots more opportunities. However, some friend of mine can easily land a high end job in AU whilst another guy struggled quite a bit hunting a job in US, given the fact that both of them graduated from Stanford. Everyone is unique and has his own dream to fulfil. If you know yourself well you undoubtedly already had an idea whether the life in US is your cup of tea of not.
Well...if you are clueless about what goal you seek in your life, better learn by trial and error~~~ C'est la vie作者: sendon1982 时间: 4-11-2011 06:59 标题: 回复 #35 JShieh 的帖子 I understand what you mean. You did give a clue. Thanks
I think I have no way back. I have to go to Au given the current circumstance.
Hope I can find a job there soon when I reach there.
By the way, you are in Au now? Did you find a IT job? Good luck.

Thanks. I made my 175 lodgement on 22.Feb.2011 and got my visa on 26.Oct. As an SAP BW consultant, it's also a question for me whether I can successfully land a job in AU. Jolly nerve-racking...
Prior to my career as a BW consultant, I'd worked as a JAVA developer for 2.5 years after graduating from SJTU and an ABAP developer for 3 years. I did a rough search on www.seek.com.au and found that most of the SAP BW jobs require at least 4 years experience. Unfortuantely I've got only less than 2 years experience. Therefore I would rather stay the course for 1 or 2 years before heading to AUS.
However, my former colleague who had no BW experience but 2 years ABAP experience successfully secured a BW consulting job in Sydney within 2 weeks upon her arrival. And the rate was extremely enviable. So, it's a case by case issue and also dependent on who you really are. I was never a piorneer and I am used to getting everything carefully planned before walking the talk. But, maybe you are the sort of bloke similar to my former colleague, it takes all sorts to make a world, doesn't it? Best wishes to you.
I asked the Au Embassy, they said you'd better have a labled VISA if you go to Au from China.
If you go to Au from US, you do not have to. Your career path is different from mine. I only work as a Java Developer. I have 6+ years Java experience and my Java skill is at normal level. I also checked the website you mentioned and found 1000+ Java position in Melbour. Just not sure I am able to clear the interview.
