Filipinos eye Australia’s new Skilled Occupation List

MANILA, Philippines—Thousands of Filipinos, among other global citizens aspiring for work and possible residence in Australia, are keenly monitoring developments in that country’s policies and programs on labor and migration.

This, as Australia’s Immigration Minister Chris Evans announced on 17 May 2010 the release of the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL), a summary of occupations currently acceptable for migration to the country.

Regularly updated to reflect changes in the local labor market and actual occupation demands, the SOL is required for applicants for Australia’s General Skilled Migration (GSM) program.

The SOL-prescribed occupations are divided into separate categories such as professionals, managers, traders etc.; there are points allocated to each profession which could be used for migration assessment purposes.
Due to be implemented starting 1 July 2010, the new SOL trims the accepted occupations from the previous 400 down to 181, after excluding cookery, hairdressing, and community welfare, which had become popular careers after being regarded as easy pathways to permanent residence in the country, but are not actually in demand in the current Australian economy.
According to Evans, the reform is intended to result in new immigrants who better meet the needs of the Australian economy and the actual needs of their country for skilled manpower.

The change is hailed as a major policy move in Australia's overall workforce development strategy developed by the independent body, Skills Australia, to ensure “a labor market demand-driven skilled migration program.”

Under the new scheme, applicants must thus have higher-level skills.

Generally, fewer people are expected to meet the stricter requirements posed by the new SOL, but manpower and immigration experts believe that many Filipinos have the required higher-level skills and could thus be eligible for the work-and-residence opportunity being offered by Australia.

跟以前经常在滴答发新闻的目的一样，
发最近的新闻
1是为了让大家了解及时的新闻和外界（包括工业界）对移民政策更改的反馈
2是大家（包括我）也能通过看英文报道提高英文水平

知己知彼，才能百战不殆
如果没有hight light请大家见谅，有空我一定把关键的地方mark 出来

不同职业分数可能不同？
还有看完了...楼主可以告诉我菲律宾的优势除了英语还有啥？

还是会有分数？
还有看完了...楼主可以告诉我菲律宾的优势除了英语还有啥？

这不跟我说的一样么，目前的SOL严格意义上不是最后的official sol
因为最后的sol是有加上专业分数的

这也就说明了，PT不一定会在71出，因为
（况且我根本没见移民局任何文件说PT71出，只是说5月review而已，大家的猜测都是围绕着因为SOL没有分数--》所以PT一定要出这个逻辑）

我不清楚菲律宾有没有豁免英文，不过即使豁免，在会计 IELTS上因为要4个7，还是要考的
其他因为要拿更高的分数的人也要准备考4个7

菲律宾应该不豁免英文的, 我看Booklet上写得是只有加拿大, 英国, 新西兰, 美国, 爱尔兰等几个以英语为主要官方语言的国家才免的.

估计新加坡和印度也不能免...

多谢楼主分享。

但个人认为这种新闻没有任何实质内容，写这篇文章的作者也许还不如楼主更了解移民政策，只是完成个报道说一下他自己的不成熟的观点罢了。

不可否认菲律宾人平均的英语水平比我国强的多，我曾经和一个菲律宾人学习了几个月的口语，至于专业上的优势，怎么可能比原来有太大变化呢。

巴顿在制定的移民法中，规定对任何申请入境的移民必须进行英语测试，在联邦海关局的官员监督下移民要默写出50个英语单词，不及格者不准许入境。
现在的雅思要求是彻头彻尾的种族政策

不断修改的《限制移民入境法案》成了主要是限制华人和黑人的法案了，因此中国政府一再向英国政府提出抗议和照会。澳大利亚政府在英国的压力下于1912年也允准中国人享有印度人和日本人同样的权利。
祖国当年也强大过！！

菲律宾是的奴性很强的民族，对待白种人极其......对待比他们勤劳的黄种人，会有莫名其妙的....
