I've learnt to use this perspective to understand homosexuality. If the world were pro-same sex then I would be out of the norm; I could not express my attraction towards the opposite sex. Thus, I would not be able to kiss in public, hold hands, get married. Luckily, the world is changing in this regard. But not the US. True, Puritans formed this country but they left Europe for the pursuit of happiness and freedom of expression.
