Australian permanent residents are residents of Australia who hold permanent residency visas but are not citizens of the Commonwealth of Australia.
Holders of permanent residency visas may remain in Australia indefinitely. These visas last up to five years from the date of grant. A notable feature of the permanent residency visa is that, even after the initial visa expires, the holder is entitled to stay in Australia indefinitely without breaching immigration regulations.[1]

1我的理解是在任何情况下，你的某一种类型的护照上（如因私护照）只能有一个有效签证。
2如果移民局认可你的PR地位，他们就不可能再签旅游签证给你，在这样的情况下，如果PR已过期，那么就需要给你签RRV。
3如果移民局在你曾经有过PR的情况下，另外签了一个旅游签证给你，那么即表示你已经失去PR地位，在这样的情况下，超过旅游签证时限的居留就不合法了。
