On Tuesday night the ESPN show E:60 will air a segment about parents who purchase sperm from athletes in an attempt to have children who will grow up to be great athletes themselves some day. I watched an advance screening of the segment, and it got me to thinking: Michael Phelps could make a fortune by selling his sperm.
Phelps already has a fortune, of course, and he might not feel the need to use sperm sales to make more money. And sperm banks almost always make their sales anonymous, so there would be all kinds of issues if thousands of women decided to pay to get impregnated by Phelps.
But make no mistake: The market for athletes' sperm is big, and it appears to be growing. The E:60 segment on athletes' sperm is done by Tom Farrey, who has also written a book called Game On: The All-American Race to Make Champions of our Children.
Farrey demonstrates that many parents go to the sperm bank wanting to pass on the DNA of athletes. And he visits the world's largest sperm bank, California Cryobank in Los Angeles, where, ESPN reports, the seed of Division I athletes sells fast.作者: xblues 时间: 24-8-2008 08:06

phelps is smart enough? i havent seen it. he is no good at mathematics.
