标题: about medicare levy exemption
今年退税的时候，因为今年初才拿到pr，所以会计师说在过去一年的某些时间可以申请medicare levy exemption。在等待了近2个月左右后，终于收到了medicare levy exemption certificate，有3个月左右时候可以免除。请教：接下去该怎么把这个费用退回来？--如果不去找会计师，自助的话，怎么做？

我没听说过你这个会计师的说法，我查到的官方资料如下：(使用英文原文避免误解，如有不明白的可以提问)
You were in an exemption category if:

You were a blind pensioner or you received the sickness allowance from Centrelink.

You were entitled to full free medical treatment for all conditions under defence force arrangements or Veterans’ Affairs Repatriation Health Card (Gold Card) or repatriation arrangements.

You were not an Australian resident for tax purposes.

You were a resident of Norfolk Island.

You were a member of a diplomatic mission or consular post in Australia – or a member of such a person’s family and you were living with them – and you were not an Australian citizen and you do not ordinarily live in Australia.

You have a certificate from the Medicare Levy Exemption Certification Unit of Medicare Australia showing that you are not entitled to Medicare benefits. A letter from Medicare is not sufficient. For more information on how to apply for an exemption certificate, contact Medicare Australia on 1300 300 271 or visit their website www.medicareaustralia.gov.au.
If you were not in one of these exemption categories, you are not entitled to an exemption.

不过我已经拿到了certificate that I am eligible for exemption from medicare levy for taxation purposes for 3-month(从去年7月一号到我申请PR的时期），会计师说得没有错。退税的时候扣掉的1% MEDICARE LEVY应该可以按时间比例退回一百多澳币的，这是会计师说的。改天去找他办吧。

两三个月前就收到medicare office退回来的近200$Medicare Levy Exemption fee了。所以，有类似情况的新移民注意了，这些钱要自己去争取才有的。我原先拿的是工作签证，所以退税的时候medicare levy 费用的天数开始填的是365天，和会计师询问时说我2006年10月份递交的pr申请，也就是说我在2006年7月到10月递交申请前是没有medicare 卡的，所以那部分时间是可以申请Medicare Levy Exemption的。
后来这个费用是自己打电话到税务局，下载了表格，连同收到的Medicare Levy Exemption Certification 一起寄给ato, 就好了。

一般来说，你收到exemption certificate的同时ato也收到同样的信息了，可以直接用etax报税，会自动免掉你相应的medicare levy的

在这边有工作收入但是不能享受medicare的tx们都可以这个exemption,比如说国际学生和拿工作签证的

新移民的medicare levy是从申请了medicare card算起还是从pr申请成功开始？
