每天的工作量是多少?据说要接100个电话作者: jade_qiu 时间: 10-10-2007 14:40 标题: 回复 #24 TOKOKA 的帖子 The salary sounds right for most call centre jobs here I think. If you are working as a casual, you can get more ( >$20 per hour), but you don't have any annual leave or sick leave entitlements.
Also, you should find out if it's 38k-40k including superannuation or 38k-40k plus super. Super should be 9% of the salary.
A job in the call centre can be quite stressed in busy times or in trouble times (like tax return period, or when system is down, etc). But some days you may only get a few calls. It all depends.
I've seen people start working in the call centre then be promoted to other roles and it usually takes at least 6-12 months depending on your luck, your company and how good the bosses think you are. Be confident, and work hard, then I'm sure you should be fine!
The requirement for English, in a western company, is not that your English has to be pefect, but that you can explain things clearly in English to the customers. There are a lot of people from India, South Africa, UK etc that work in the call centre here. There are travellers that just want to earn the money to pay for the trip. There are old locals who do not have much qualifications. Then there are a lot of young university students who are doing it as part time job to support their study and living costs.
I think you can take it as a job to start with. If it takes you to a career that you like, then take every opportunity to get promoted in the company. If not, at least it gives you local experience and references for your future job hunting.
Cheers!

谢谢Jade, 我还是打算试试call center的工作,毕竟没有local的工作经验,很难有其它的机会。作者: shellte 时间: 11-10-2007 14:06
For call center permanent pay, 40k+9% super is average.
More than this means you are lucky, less than this means you should have a negotiation with the employer.作者: TOKOKA 时间: 13-10-2007 22:17

I strongly support Jade's opinion. I used to work in a big call centre for 8 months, serving Aussie mobile phone customers for a big telecom company. It was very stress working in call centre. Except the fact that you work in an office, you are more like a worker in an assembly line in a factory.
There are a lot of KPI (key performance Index) to measure how fast you answer a call, how long you stay on line, how many minutes you take break....
There are different call centres, some of them do outbound sales calls. If you are a good salesperson, you probably will feel a bit good about it. There are also outbound research calls. Other call centres are inbound, waiting for customers to call in and helping them to solve various problems/questions.
Most of the call centre staff don't stay in call centre for a long time. Honestly it is a boring and stressful job. The benefit for a new migrant to work in a call centre is 1) you can improve English(probably not suitable if you serve Chinese Speaking customers), 2) you will get customer service experience which is very useful in future job application, 3) you will have local referee 4) you earn money, 5) you will feel so good when you finally get a job that you don't need to count second to go to toilet!
