标题: 剑桥8听力的一句
When the students come into the museum foyer we ask them to check in their backpacks with their books, lunch boxes, etc, at the cloakroom before they enter the museum proper.

麻烦指教一下这里的 proper 该怎么解释，

理解起来还是很容易的，因为前文提到foyer，所以后面加了个proper

museum foyer (transition zone = not real museum

)
museum proper (the exhibition room = real museum)

比如其他例子如下，都是如果前文中要是提到了建筑物的一个部分，后文也许为了语气的需要加上这个字
church - narthex / Church proper
clinic - waiting room / clinic proper
theatre - foyer / theatre proper
...
something real / actual

不过，通常少有人这样称呼的，而且各种叫法不尽相同，简单了解下就可以了。
