[Melbourne] Are you good with Python?
One of my friends is looking for a Python developer. Below is the details. If you or someone you know are interested in it, feel free to contact me for more info (EMail to: BLUESTRAIT AT GMAIL DOT COM)."
There is an opening for a 6-month python contract in our Melbourne (Richmond) office, for a ‘gun’ coder. Depending on how things turn out, there may be a range of possibilities following the contract period, including part time and/or telecommuting. Salary is around $150k pa, so ~$75k for the 6 months.
Our core service is a health and wellbeing site, and core technology stack is nginx->twisted->nevow->storm->postgres. Zope.interfaces is used to help us stay modular, and we have a strong emphasis on testing at all levels. Over the past 9 months we have been building up an agile team, and have very capable scrum coaches/masters and agile Bas, with strong support for agile from our development management. Development and deployment environments are Ubuntu.
Our parent company wants us to quickly integrate with their systems and add new features, which is why this is a contract position. We need someone who can hit the ground running. While we expect you to understand the technologies we use, you need to demonstrate a lot more than that. We will not be gentle in the interview process, as we will only settle for a first-class candidate.
As I said earlier, it’s conceivable to follow-up the 6 months of in-house work with something more flexible. Once you’ve demonstrated the ability to deliver and built up a rapport with the in-house team, there are definite possibilities for working remotely, in one form or another. I won’t pretend to make any guarantees now, but if you show you can deliver, and work as part of the team, we will do what we can.
