12 tips for interviews
They are simple and often common sense, yet when interviewing, we sometimes tend to forget the basics:1. Listen carefully to the interviewer and the questions being asked and answer accordingly.
2. When it is your turn to speak or answer a question, take between 20 seconds and 2 minutes.
3. Remember to mix speaking and listening. You should spend 50% of the interview talking and the other 50% listening.
4. Be positive.
5. Do not be too modest, the interviewer wants to know what your strengths are.
6. On the flip side, never exaggerate what you have done.
7. Preparation. Always make sure you do your research and walk into an interview prepared.
8. Always talk in concrete terms, be specific and use examples.
9. Never defend or argue with an interviewer.
10. Never speak negatively about your previous employer/s.
11. Attempt to make a connection with the interviewer (common interests, people you may both know etc).
12. Remember interviewing is a two way street. You are deciding if you want the position and to work for the company, while they are deciding if you are right for the position and the company. very useful! :good :good :good
