Paid Work Experience ProgramThe Multicultural Employment Infrastructure Program (MEIP) is advertising a new exciting paid work experience opportunity, HEAT, managed by Bridgeworks, Chermside. The program aims to help professional and skilled migrants and refugees gain long-term, meaningful employment. It runs for 13 weeks. Further details are below:
How it works: 13 weeks paid employment in your area of profession with a Government or Not for Profit organisation. Professional development will also be provided on Australian workplace culture etc.
Eligibility: basic criteria is that you are: (a) from a non-english speaking or culturally and linguistically diverse background; (b) are not currently working more than 25 hours per week or in full time education and (c) that you are legally entitled to work full time in Australia i.e. not be on a student, tourist or working holiday visa.
How to join: register as soon as possible at www.bridgeworks.org.au/heat.html.You will then be required to attend an information session. Bridgeworks will check your eligibility and ask you to take a form to Centrelink. They can start working with you as soon as the form is returned.
When it starts: this program is staggered, meaning different people can start at different times. We do however recommend that you register as soon as possible. The first information session is in August.
This program aims at putting each participant in their area of profession. There are 75 places on the program but it is very popular so register soon! For more information contact MEIP:
