ORDER OF PROCESSING GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION APPLICATIONS
From 1 January 2009, the new Ministerial Direction (S499) gives
priority processing to applications strictly in the following
order:
1. employer sponsorship; then
2. State or Territory Sponsorship; then
3. an occupation on the Critical Skill List (CSL); then
4. Business Skills; then
5. an occupation on the Migration Occupations in Demand List
(MODL); and then
6. All other applications
STATE OR TERRITORY SPONSORED - Subclasses 885, 475 and 176
If you have obtained state or territory sponsorship your visa
application will be processed as a priority. However it can
take up to 2 months from the time sponsorship is approved until
it is registered on our system. Once registered on our system
your application will be allocated to a case officer for assessment
and once conducted they will make contact if they require additional
information or documentation.
OBTAINING STATE OR TERRITORY SPONSORSHIP DURING PROCESSING
If you have applied for Class VE subclass 175 or Class VB Subclass
885 and obtain state or territory sponsorship your application
will be considered under Subclass 176 and 886 (respectively)
without additional fee or visa application.
CRITICAL SKILLS LIST (CSL) - Subclasses 175, 176, 475, 885, 886
If you nominated occupation is on the following list it will
be processed as a priority. Please see:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/g ... ation/pdf/critical-
skills-list.pdf
ACCOUNTANTS
If your nominated occupation is accountant you can re-sit your
IELTs test to obtain the Proficient level of a minimum of 7 in
each band. Once achieved please notify us as soon as your have
uploaded your results onto your application (or emailed it to
us) so that we can prioritise your application.
COMPUTING PROFESSIONALS
If you have nominated Computing Professional then to be eligible
your occupation must also be on the Migration Occupations in
Demand List (MODL). See MODL:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/skilled-
occupations/occupations-in-demand.htm
Once you have identified under which 'Specialisation' your occupation
is considered, please notify us as soon as you have uploaded
your Positive ACS Skills Assessment onto your application (or
email it to us) so that we can prioritise your application.
APPLICATIONS NOT ON CSL
If you have nominated a skilled occupation that is not on the
CSL and your application is not currently eligible for priority
processing then we are unable to provide a definitive timeline
for finalising your application. This includes applications that
were previously listed on the CSL and subsequently removed.
OPTIONS IF YOUR APPLICATION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR PRIORITY PROCESSING
Should you be able to secure employment in Australia, you may
wish to consider an employer-sponsored visa or alternatively
seek State or Territory government nomination. An eligible Australian
employer could sponsor you and guarantee to employ you for a
period of time under the Temporary Business (Subclass 457) visa,
the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) or the Employer
Nomination Scheme (ENS).
Further information on these schemes and instructions for obtaining
nomination/sponsorship is available on the Department's website:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/visa-options.htm.
**Applicants who have applied for visa subclasses 175, 176, 885
and 886 may be eligible for a fee waiver if they are able to
obtain Employer Nomination. For more information please contact
your nearest Centre of Excellence:
http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/centres-of-excellence/
VISA SUBCLASSES EXEMPT FROM PRIORITY PROCESSING CHANGES
Visa Subclasses 485, 476, 487 and 887 are exempt from the priority
processing changes. Applications under these subclasses will
continue to be processed in the order in which they were received
by the Department.
ALLOCATION DATES
The Brisbane and Adelaide Skilled Processing Centres are unable
to provide indicative timeframes for allocation or processing
of individual applications, however we are able to provide allocation
dates for applications that meet the higher priority processing
order.
