我个人认为作为母语是汉语的中国新移民来说，短期内想把电话打得非常地道是不太现实的，其实打电话前自己酝酿一下，在纸上列个提纲，把大致要问的问题或想表达的意思有礼貌地说清楚就行了，所以，我这里就列出一些给中介打电话常用的句型供同志们参考，其实，我每次打电话时也就记住了几个常用的句型，就一路搞定了，顺便说一下，听力始终很重要，能听懂才能交流。

1．Greeting
Hello, my name is………. How are you?
Good morning/afternoon. My name is ………….
Hello, this is ……………..

2. Requesting to speak to person
I was wondering if I could speak to…………..
Could I speak to……………….
I’d like to speak to………………
Is……………………available.

3. Ask when person is due back
When do you expect him/her back?
Will he/she be available this afternoon?
Will he/she be away long?

4. Requesting to leave a message 一般我们都选择再打过去，但有时打两遍也找不到的话，那就留言吧。
Can I leave a message please?
Could I please leave a message?
Would you take a message please?

5. 没听懂的时候，可以用：
Pardon?
Sorry?升调
I beg your pardon?
Could you say that again, please?
Would you mind repeating that, please?
Could you spell that, please?
Could you say the number again, please?
I’m sorry. I didn’t quite understand that.
Sorry, I didn’t quite catch that.
I’m sorry, I didn’t quite get that.

对某些具体的信息没听清时，可以重复反问没听清的那几个词，例如:
对方说：You need to send your resume to Tom Keaney.

你没听清楚谁的时候，可以问：
I send my resume to…..?

如果对方说了一遍名字你还没听清，可以说：
Could you spell that, please?

如果你不太确信你听到名字，可以重复一下，如:
Tom Keaney? 或者说：
Did you say Tom Keaney?

其实，不光是名字，对没听清楚的信息都可以采取这种回答法，还可以说:
So you mean…..?

如果你对某个听到的单词不懂什么意思，你可以说：
What does…..mean? 或者
I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with that word/term.

6. 如果你口语较烂，对方理解错了，你就说：
No, sorry, what I meant was…………..
No, actually, what I said was……….

7. 如果对方跟你叙述事情的时候，你要礼貌地给出一些feedback，比如：
Mm, Right, I see, Really, Uh huh, Ok等之类的词。

8. 如果你想得到对方的信息或帮助，要用恳切的语气
下面这两个句子就很不礼貌，绝对让人家不爽：
Tell me about the job.
I want you to send me the information.

客气的说法应该是：
Would you mind answering a few questions I have about the job?
I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about the job.
Could you please send me the information about the vacancy?
I wonder if you could send me some information about your company?

如果你想让对方感觉到你比较体谅他/她比较忙的话，你也可以这样说：
Can I just take a little of your time to ask a few questions about the job?
If I could just take a little of your time.
I only need a couple of minutes.

电话例子：

Mr Johnson: Yeah. It’s ah, mainly working off reports. The computer virtually works it out for you and tells you what ah. It’ll, it’ll give you a report saying: I think you should order this, this is moving up, this is moving down. Stuff like that.
Mita: I see. I do have experience with Word Perfect and Inventory Control. Is that?
Mr Johnson: Right. Yes, um, well, Word Perfect, well you won’t use that much. It’d mainly be ah, well, just mainly reading the screen all the time. But, ah, look, just send us your resume and ah, we can have alook at what you’ve done.
Mita: Yes. Sure.
Mr Johnson: And we’ll take it from there. OK?
Mita: Yes, fine. Um, I, I was just wondering. Could you send me any information about the company, like a company report or a brochure?
Mr Johnson: No, ah, look we’re a pretty small company. I don’t think we’ve got anything we could send you, actually.

（终于敲完，十指颤抖！）其实找工作的同志们注意看里面一些比较客气的表达法模仿一下应该就行了。

关于电话中拼读名字的时候，例如：

标准的International Alphabet如下：

The purpose of the typical job interview is to screen a handful of applicants who have made the final cut after a lengthy process of weeding through hundreds of resumes or job applications to select qualified candidates.  If you are called for a job interview it means that the employer believes you have the basic skills and experience required for the job; however, he wants to see you in person so he can learn more about you, your personality, your appearance, your demeanor and your ability to do the job.  Depending on the employer you could be competing against as little as three or as many as 30 other applicants.  Don't be surprised if you are called for a second or third interview, particularly if you are applying for a position with a large company.

Most job interviews follow a standard format:

(1) Greeting and small talk to put you at ease and break the ice.  The interviewer may give you a preview of what will occur during the interview.
(2) The employer may give you a brief overview of the position or additional information about the organization.
(3) You respond to questions.  If it's a good interview, this is the longest segment and you should do most of the talking.
(4) You ask questions of the interviewer.  Have at least five or ten questions prepared beforehand.
(5) The interviewer closes the interview and explains the next steps in the process.  Be sure to thank the interviewer for his or her time.

During the interview you should be：

confident, enthusiastic and prepared.

Be knowledgeable about the organization

Be confident and sell your skills

Listen carefully and be interested

The interviewer will try to determine if you have the following TRAITS by asking you a series of interview questions:

(1)  Achiever       (2)  Productive       (3)  Self-starter          (4)  Contributor          (5)  Quick Learner       (6)  Easy Going       (7)  Dependable
(8)  Stable          (9)  Responsible

The interviewer will also ASSESS you on the following:

Personal appearance: Usually, it is a good idea to dress in proper business attire for a job interview if you would not look ridiculous showing up in a suit and tie.  For example, there is no need for someone applying for a job as a sacker in a grocery store to show up in a suit.  However, if the job is in an office environment, wear proper business attire even if the company has relaxed standards and allows employees to wear jeans.  If the job is a blue collar type job, then be well-groomed but you are not required to wear a suit and tie -- a nice pair of slacks and a shirt or blouse would be appropriate.  Your shoes should always be polished beforehand.  It is always better to be conservative in your personal appearance.  Conservative means modest attire, an understated hairstyle, little make-up, short and well-manicured fingernails with no polish, and very little jewelry. Avoid using cologne or perfume as it might offend the interviewer when you walk in the room and there is a cloud of scent arriving with you.

Demeanor:  Confidence is of utmost important because if you do not convey to the interviewer that you like yourself and believe in yourself then there is no reason to hire you.  Stand straight and tall, look the interviewer in the eyes, and smile when you shake his or her hand.  If you are offered a refreshment, such as coffee, you can accept it if you want, but it would be better if you did not (you might spill it down your front or knock it over with your briefcase).  Never smoke or chew gum!  Do not sit down in a chair until the interviewer has asked you to do so and when you do sit, do not slouch or try to dominate the interview. Let the interviewer conduct the interview and maintain eye contact.

Your ability to answer the question: "Why should you be hired?" No interviewer is going to ask you all of the questions discussed in our guide, but all interview questions revolve around one basic question:  "Why should you be hired?"  In order to answer that question find out what skills you have that are pertinent to the position for which you are interviewing.  Be able to identify two or three of your top selling points and determine how you can illustrate them during the interview and provide the interviewer with examples of how you have applied particular skills or knowledge while performing past jobs.

标题: 面试最后部分比较好的问题
面试最后部分一般都会给求职者问问题的时间，本人观点认为，其实，这之前面试官基本已经给你打好分了，他已经从前面你对他问题的回答中获得了对你作出判断的信息。

然而，这最后一部分还是要认真对待，最少要问3个问题，有一点技巧我想提一下，如果你感觉面试过程不甚理想，最好能问几个你事先研究对方公司时产生的问题，这样可令对方对你的判断有个补充认识，至少认为你比较认真投入并且希望得到这份工作。

1．       Why is this position available?
2．       Is this a new position?  How long has this position existed?
3．       How many people have held this position in the last two years?
4．       Who would be my supervisor?  To whom would I report?
5．       Whom will I supervise?
6．       With whom will I be working most closely?
7．       What do you like about working for this company?

标题: 推荐人背景调查邮件以及结语！
如果前面一切进展顺利，那么开始期待发给你推荐人的背景调查邮件或电话调查吧，背景调查有几种方式，可能会是你雇主直接给你提供的推荐人打电话，也有可能发邮件，上司，同事，朋友都可以，他们会分别从不同的角度对你进行评价。上司和同事对你从工作方面进行评价和推荐，朋友可以从人品，性格等方面对你进行评价。一般推荐人提供2个到3个，有的雇主会要求推荐人之一是前面工作的上司，绝大部分没有要求。只在工作基本确定了才提供给雇主进行背景调查，简历里REFREES一栏写上TO BE PROVIDED ON REQUEST。

如果雇主没有要求一定要上司，而且你跟上司比较难沟通，那最好你提供你们同事作为推荐人，把你简历发给他们一份，电话里再跟他们关照好一些细节，因为每个人的简历会根据职位的要求做一些改动，务必使你推荐人对你的信息了解准确，避免低级错误。关系好的话，最好跟推荐人关照，雇主的邮件收到后给你转发过来，你填完后给你的推荐人发回去，也省了推荐人的麻烦。别忘了，叫你的推荐人不要直接转发你的邮件，你的邮箱信息都在上面，这也是一个低级错误。
