The Price Earnings (PE) ratio is price over (future) earnings per share. You can tell if its an expensive stock or not based on comparison with the PE's of the peer group or industry.
Earnings Per Share is the hard part to calculate as you need to strip out the CFO cooking their books. This is typically found in accruals or depreciation methods that give the company an advantage. Another difficulty with EPS is that it should be forward looking, so you need to have an element of forecasting.
The easy part is the historical price. Its for Woolworths so search WOW under the ASX website or Yahoo finance to get the share price (market price) at a specific date (say 30 June 2012).
You can use this as the numerator for the ratio, and then find the denominator or the EPS to calculate the PE ratio.
Hope you must have received my updated resume in 2003 format.
I finished my interview today for Credit Banking Clerk. It went for one hour and than i told them that i have to go to work today. Well they did not ask me much about the background of Aussie Tax time so i did not say much about it. To be frank they did not ask my intro, neither about Aussie Tax Time or Toshiba. They were very pleasant and was very pleased with my resume and background.
The interview was taken by Paulina Saldouzi (HR ) and Judy Robertson (Credit Manager)They started with introducing themselves and gave me brief info about Toshiba. Then they informed me about the details for the role advertised and then Judy started with asking me all different questions from behavioral topic. They wanted each answer with STAR- Situation,Task,Action and Result.
The questions were:
Tell me about the biggest obstacle you faced in ur career and what was it and the result?
Tell me how did u deal with an unsatisfied customer and what did u do to turn him around?
How would u prioritize ur work?
Did you ever come across a difficult team member and what did u do to resolve the situation?
Tell me did u ever share responsibilities with your team members and an incident where both of u had to work together for the same project. What was the result?
They asked me regarding my excel skills- I told them its intermediate to advanced and told them i also know V Look Up.
I told we are multi tasking at Aussie Tax tIme. Also i told them that i work 4 days a week and report to my Senior Accountant.
Can i stay back during month end and i said yes. They did not ask me about my current salary or location of the company.
I told them we were notified by LexisNexis before 6 months about the outsourcing project and then my family decided to visit me so i took this job at Aussie Tax Time so that i can work as well as enjoy family time. I told them my last day at Lexis Nexis was 6th August 2010 and i joined Aussie Tax Time in mid August 2010.
They asked me if you were aware that i will be looking for work and i said well my senior manager knew that i wanted to work in Multi national company as it clearly shows my background in resume and she was happy to let me go or adjust accordingly when the right time approaches. They asked me what notice period would i require and i said basically 2 weeks but my senior acc has advised me that if i get good opportunity they can accommodate.
Also they said we want someone who can work with high volume accounts. And i said i have worked with LexisNexis and provided an example.
They said they would receive 200-300 cheques, direct EFT payments and i have enter them, upload them and at times help Credit Team to allocate them. They use Oracle method.
Bank rec and CC rec would also be part of duties.
Well they mostly just wanted to know if i can work hard, do multi tasking, have sound accounting knowledge, team player and handle stress.
They have very high volume of payments and cheque receipts. They will reply me the outcome by early next week or end of week. Both of them gave me their visiting cards if i need to contact them. I think they were very positive.
Judy is with Toshiba for 15 years and Paulina is with Toshiba for 13 years. Once they will ask your reference i will give them. Yet they have not asked for it.
Wish you happy New Year. This is Cassie from brisbane. I just finished the interview with the employer. The position I applied for is Account Assistant position. Before I get the interview ( I am the only candidate for the interview), I already had the interview with the Agent. I passed first, second round of profiling process. You did the reference check for me. And, I will write you the feedback after I get the result of the job.
Now I m writing to share some interview questions which I was asked for today.
Could you give me a time when you have disagreement with your supervisor?
Have you ever had a time when you cannot get along with your coworker?
Give me an example that you have to dealwith a difficult customer?
What interest you most for this position?
What part do you really enjoy about working in a team? What part you dont enjoy?
What do you enjoy most of all the job duties in your resume?
If you cannot match the transaction during the reconsiliation, what will you do?
Where would you see your self in next 5 years?
How could you cope with the changes in the workplace?
They also asked about the business and structure of the business you worked for.
I wish those questions will help other people to have a good preparation of their interviews.
Now I am waiting for the results of the interview. Fingers cross for me to get that position.Thank you Coco, I really appreciate your guidance and help.

Hi Coco,
thanks very much for the reference check. They offered me the job today and was happy to accept it. As promised below are details of my interview experience.
I had to go through a psych test before the interview (50 Questions). The interview was conducted by the HR Manager and the CFO. It lasted about 30 mins. Below are some of the questions they asked.
- Tell me about yourself
- What do you know about our company
- Describe your role in florian
- Describe the role in your previous company
- The Manager described the position & I told him how I fitted the role
- Are you a hands-on person?
- How do you prioritize tasks?
- Are you good in computers? (I told them my familiarity with software and systems)
- They also asked accounting packages I'm familiar with and do I know SAP. (I told them about my SAP experience in previous job)
- Have I had any experience in making improvements to accounting systems & was required to give an example.
I went over the job decription, resume and things that were covered in the interview class in florian before the actual interview which proved to be useful.
Thanks for the support and help.
Best Regards

Hi Coco
Thank you very much for doing reference check for me today.
I haven't heard from the employer yet. The financial controller of the potential employer rang me this morning telling me that they've decided to give me offer after reference check is done, and said he would email me after calling my referees, but I have not heard anything from them yet.
But I am sure that the interview went well.
At first I had a short telephone interview with the financial controller and was asked to introduce myself. And then I attended 2 round face to face interviews .
The 1st interview was with financial controllor and he went through my employment details with me.
The 2nd interview was with the director, which was quite short, and I was asked about the same questions as at the 1st interview with much less details.
The interview questions are as follows:
1. Could you tell me about yourself?
2. What did you do in Platinum?
3. What is the nature of business of Platinum?
4. Why did you leave this job?
5. Did you do some reconciliation? (The interview said "Attention to details and accuracy are very important in this position.")
6. Why do you want apply for this part time position?
7. What are your salary expectations?
8. Do you have any questions to ask?
I'll update information if something new happens.
Thanks again, Coco.
Kind regards,

Dear Coco,
I've received first job interview last Tuesday since I've been hunting job for 3 months. I applied for assistant accountant positions from small real estate company at Eastern suburb. During interview, they mentions that this position is actually Account/Admin position. Interview time last for approximately 30 minutes and some of your advise during Lvl 1 training session really help me. Managing directors and Accountants interviewed me.
Some Interview questions that I can remember are followed,
Tell me about yourself ?
Why do you want to work for us?
What are your greatest strength and weakness?
What interest you in this position?
Tell me What is your excel & MYOB skill in out of 10?
Could you describe typical processes of A/C payable and receivable?
Could you tell me your achievement/creativity from previous job?
How do you deal when you have conflict with your colleagues?
Have you deal with large amount of telephone inquires?
Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?
Again, I'd like to thanks you very much for improving my skill and knowledge during training session.

Dear Coco
I’m very happy to inform you that I did my second round of interview with an accounting firm in Hornsby and at the end of interview I signed a part-time 6 months contract as an assistant accountant.
I wish to thank you for all of your support and your help. Your training program and also the Internship program was the key of my success, without those knowledge it was almost impossible for me to find a job.
My first interview was mainly about my personality, my qualifications, my work experiences and the reason I chose this path for myself. They asked lots of questions about my responsibilities in Platinum and the reason I left.
The second interview included some general questions about Tax, GST and Preparing the BAS. Then they introduce me to other staff and left us in a room for about 30 minutes. I knew they were testing my communication skills.
I am very much happy to get this job and my advice to other trainees is that never give up. I applied for more than 200 hundred jobs during the last few months and I got rejected times and times, but I didn’t give up.
Once again a big thank you to Coco for this fantastic training program and her sincere work for helping trainees to find a job.
Kind regards

Dear Coco,
Thank you for providing this training and the Internship program. Not only Platinum accounting has provided the knowledge and practical jobs in Accounting area, but Platinum Accounting has provide great support from the start until get the right job.
I Start the Internship program before the Training Class. It has been a great experience. I have start searching for jobs even I haven’t finished attending the training class. It’s a good Practise to go to the interview and build up the confidence. Even I have got rejected many times during interview. You guys always supports me to keep trying and applying for job and said: “Just go and it’s a good practise”. She is right! Seek.com is a good site to search for job. Search under Accounts clerk/Accounts payable/Assistant accountant/Bookkeeping jobs. Every day, I spend a time to send resume through seek.com.
The Training Class is very important especially the interview class. It gives me overall picture of how the accounting departments are arranged. The interview class teach me the most appropriate way when it comes to write the resume and attending the interview. During the interview class, I had learned from other people’s mistake and try not to do the same mistakes. Anyway, I am still a human so I had done one mistake too, when it comes to writing the resume. PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW MY mistake. What I have done is I keep updating the resume, It gives me a great confuse because I don’t know which one I sent to the employer. So In the future, Please your final resume and don’t change it over and over again.
Always and always prepare for interview. I had write down some interview questions and write down the answers. All the interview questions are provided in the interview class. If I am not sure of how to answer the interview questions, I go to internet and Google and find the answers.
So Here I am, I got a job, 2 weeks after the training Class. It is good to spend time and come to the office, have a chat with Coco or Platinum Accounting staff before and after the interview. Ask feedback of what need to be improved. It can be your personality or it can be your skills that you need to be improved. Each time sent the resume, I also pray to God to give the right job and the right employer to work with.
All the best in the future for Platinum Accounting and all the future candidates.
Best Regards
Fiona作者: platinumaccount 时间: 24-5-2013 16:46 标题: Interview feedback Hi Coco,
Sorry for very late reply, actually did not realize that you have replied me. Accidentally, I saw you email while I was looking for some other emails. I thought that I should drop a few lines for you and to be thankful again. As you know that i got the job and doing great. But I am a bit lack of knowledge when it comes to taxation matter when i deal with ATO. So I am thinking to move to taxation side for a while in future to just get experience in that side and start CPA as well. Anyway, this is my situation at the moment hope you all well at your end. I have drop a few lines about how i got through and that may give some encouragements to new trainees.
I did my level one training program at Platinum Accounting in 2011 and soon after enrolled for internship program. While i was doing level one program, I did my very best to get all important points across in all the modules. Some modules I did twice to be more familiar with. Meantime, I worked hard on improving my excel skills as well. I think that it very important to have advanced excel skill. I get a lot of helps from Coco on that. Consequently, I finished Internship very easily and very quickly. Then i started to apply jobs and started getting phone interviews. Initially I was a bit hesitant how to respond and then I did an interview session with Coco. Then I knew exactly what they expecting from me. After a few disappointment interviews, finally i got a job with SQ in 2012 after reference check with of Coco. I had to learn SAP and got training in Singapore. Then I joined my current place and now i have to do all my assistant accountant duties as same as which i did in internship. To make it more easily, now i am working with MYOB. I am very thankful to Coco and her well structured Internship program which gives all practical knowledge is needed in job .
Best Regards,

What is LCT?
LCT is a tax of 33% imposed on the GST-inclusive value of luxury cars over the relevant LCT threshold. You generally pay LCT when you sell or import a luxury car. You pay LCT as well as any GST payable.
Special refunds may be available for some primary producers and tourism operators for luxury cars they buy
LCT threshold
The LCT thresholds for the 2013–14 financial year are:
o $75,375 for fuel-efficient cars
o $60,316 for other cars.
These thresholds are different to the car limit which is used to work out depreciation deductions for income tax.
If you buy a car with a GST-inclusive value above these LCT thresholds, you must pay LCT. In general, the value of a car includes the value of any parts, accessories or attachments you supplied, or imported at the same time as the car. 作者: platinumaccount 时间: 8-8-2013 11:11

As a general rule, entities such as religious institutions that make few or no taxable supplies can benefit substantially from registration as they can claim GST credits on their inputs.Conversely, small businesses that have a low percentage of costs in comparison to income, and that supply goods or services to non-registered customer(who cannot claim input credits themselves), are normally better off if they do not register(assuming they have a choice)作者: platinumaccount 时间: 9-9-2013 16:52 本帖最后由 platinumaccount 于 23-6-2014 16:09 编辑

I would like to personally thank you for helping me out with my position as a Payroll Officer at 1800 Drivers recruitment. I wish to tell you that you guys are amazing and that this internship worked wonders on preparing me for the interview as well as the job. So thanks a trillion again.
About 1800 Drivers, its a medium sized company dealing with recruitment of commercial truck drivers carrying various grades of licenses. The head office is located in Brisbane at Underwood where the main operations, IT, technical, Payroll and Accounts are based. I am in the payroll division as a Payroll Officer and closely work with the Accounts payable Officer, Senior Accountant and Operations Manager.
The job description for a new comer like myself is to first familiarize with the system which is an in house developed software called DriverPop that is comprehensive and quite user friendly. I won't shy away from saying that it is very different from Myob and to get used to it takes quite a bit of time, but once the flow is reached, it becomes easier. The tasks are on time constrained and everyday the work is cut out for me like every other job.
The interview was informal and brief with generic and behavioral questions like why would you like to be in this job? how do you behave in a conflict environment? Would you consider yourself to be detail oriented person? etc. The answers are not definitive and they differ from person to person. My mantra was not to say yes to everything, but mix a largely positive answer with a bit of negative so that they can understand that you are not perfect but are willing to learn. For eg: The interviewer asked me that what was the most negative aspect about myself? and I said "Confidence". It was the truth but also the right answer because I would like to sharpen my confidence and people skills more. My questions were not very much accounting based but even generic questions can be the decisive factor.
Lastly, I would like to wish you all the very best for future prospects and again, a tremendous thanks to Selina especially for everything.
Take care and best regards,

Hope you are well. I have already got the offer from an accounting firm and will start work next Monday. Thanks for your professional training course, which is useful for job seeking especially in commercial environment. Also, I would like to thank Jeff and Cindy. They are always nice and try to help me to solve problems. Jeff’s interview course was fantastic and covered most behaviour questions. Here are some questions I summarized from my interview as follow:
1. Introduce your self
2. Introduce your study experience
3. Introduce the internal control audit process
4. Describe the challenge you met in your work.
5. If you are an auditor, how to audit the payroll process?
6. What are the audit risks we need to consider?
7. Tell me about the situation you met the strict deadline.
8. How can you make sure your accounting and auditing knowledge are updated?
9. How to deal with the large financial data?
10. If you find some weakness in internal control, how can you deal with this?
11. If you find the staff over use the entertainment card, how to deal with this issue?
I hope the above interview questions could help the others in their interview. Thanks again for your kind help!
Cheers

Hi Coco,
How are you recently? I got the offer for the assistant accountant role finally, I will start it very soon and I would like to refer my first position to your trainees.
I would like to thank you again for the reference and the training and it is very helpful.
My current position will be vacant and My boss asked me recommend a person. So I am wondering, whether you have any trainer to recommend. It is a part time job at present, 2 days (Mondays and Wednesday) per week. It is possible to be a potential full time job.
The company envolves in International Trading and Human Resource service. Most employees are Korean.
The job is envolved in payroll, AP/AR, BAS and IAS so it is helpful for entry level people.
They are looking for a person who has a sound accounting background, mature, and reliable. PR is an advantage because they hope that the person can work in a long term.
I hope that you can recommend some suitable interns.
Thanks for your help again. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,

I am writing to thank you and your team and give a brief introduction of my interview. It was in this afternoon and I got the offer at the end of interview. The position is Audit Associate of a Singapore audit firm.
Before the commencement of the interview I was asked to finish a quiz about some transaction journals. The interviewer took away my quiz paper after I finished, so when I was filling the Application Form he was reviewing my quiz paper. At the beginning of the interview, I was asked to introduce myself. Even though I practiced my self- introduction many times, I was still very nervous. In the self-introduction I emphasized my internship experience with your firm. I said that I learned how to apply accounting knowledge into real business situations during this internship and I took accruals as an example. I also mentioned that it enhanced my knowledge of MYOB Accounting Software and Microsoft Excel. The interviewer told me he knew I did rehearsal and he would like to give me some credits.
Then he told me I did well in the quiz and discussed the mistakes I made. Later he asked me some questions regarding Singapore Accounting Standards. Very fortunately, I started to study ACCA paper P2 (Corporate Reporting- Singapore Variance) three weeks ago so I managed to provide solutions. The interviewer pointed out that they wanted to hire a Singaporean or PR but he still arranged this interview because of my academic result in UNSW. He said he rarely gave offers straight away but he was really impressed by my performance in the interview and quiz. So he offered me this position at once. I will start work after the Singapore immigration office issued the work Consent letter to me which probably will take one week.
Again, Coco, thank you for modifying my resume and the wonderful training you provide.
It’s really lucky for me to find this job as bookkeeper with a construction company. Actually, I find this bookkeeper job from gumtree.
I think it is really important to check your email constantly, because they contact me the night when I apply for this role. However,by the time I saw the reply it is too late, so it delayed my interview for a day. I think there is some suitable accounting job for beginners to do on gumtree.
By the time when I apply for it, they want to hire someone as part-time. However, they finally decided to hire someone as full-time. I also went for an interview with page personal. The job is also a part-time. Therefore, as a beginner, I think you can apply for all kinds of job regardless of what type it is.
The interview is not long, and I think one factor that contributes to my success is attitude. Nobody wants to hear someone who doesn’t even believe they can handle the job. They asked me about my working experience and education background. Like, what do you usually do during your intern? What did you do when you are studying? Also, they asked “Are you well-organized”? Another interview I went to with page personal they also asked me about “what is your strength? What is your weakness?” And “What do you do during your intern?”. Your working experience is critical for you to get the position, tell them how you did the job and how you improve yourself.
Finally, try to apply for the role with a suitable travelling distance from you is important. Goodluck to everyone!~

Cheers,

I would like to personally thank you for helping me out with my position as a Payroll Officer at this Drivers recruitment company. I wish to tell you that you guys are amazing and that this internship worked wonders on preparing me for the interview as well as the job. So thanks a trillion again.
About this Drivers recruitment company, its a medium sized company dealing with recruitment of commercial truck drivers carrying various grades of licenses.
Lastly, I would like to wish you all the very best for future prospects and again, a tremendous thanks to Selena especially for everything.
Take care and best regards,

Dear Yolanda
I had an informal interview as the company is very small at the stage and they are
more focusing on the candidates' personality.
During the interview, the very fundamental and key issue he was concerning about
is whether my believes match their believes. So he spent most of the time
explaining his company background, his mission and vision. (As an immigration
agency, his core value is to help his clients in every way he can, instead of seeking
for the highest commissions.) After I showed my interest, the second thing he
talked about is my commitment, in another words, would I work for him for at least 2
years.
So, for me, I believe individuals' personality matters, after the interview, I concluded
that the key characteristics he want his employees to have are honesty, integrity,
loyalty, desire to learn, confidentiality and responsibility. Also, it is important to
understand the company's background, mission and vision, and ask yourself
whether you agree with them and have the desire to help the company to reach
their goal if you consider to work for them for a long time.
Last but not least, it is very good to have someone to give you a reference. I was
refereed by the HR manager of my school. My boss got most of the information
about me from him.
I wish it helps.
Best wishes

Hi Selina,
I've just received the job offer from the company this afternoon and I really appreciate your help.
The job I'm applying for is Data Entry and Contract Management. I think the reason I got the interview is thank to what I have learnt from Premier Accounting. I put internship descriptions in my resume and it becomes more attractive to employer. There was two interviewers, one was accountant and the other was manager/director of company. They asked me questions below:
- Tell us about yourself and what can you offer to the company
- What are your 3 best qualities
- What is your dream job/ What do you want to become in the future
- What make you want to be an accountant (although it's not position I'm applying for)
- What did you not like about your last job/internships
- What did you learn during your internship
- How can you demonstrate your willingness to learn...
After that they tested my excel skills and asked me to write a short email (dealing with an angry customer) just to test my written English.
This is just a start for me since I am aiming for the position of assistant accountant. Of course I will take this job seriously but I will also keep trying until I got that position.
Once again, thank you for the reference check and I'm grateful that I did the training course with you, Coco and everyone else in Premier Accounting.
Kind regards,

Hi Yolanda,
I have good news.
I got a job as a Management(Cost) Accountant. The training I had at Bly Accounting gave me so much confidence at the interview and I learnt a lot about book keeping, Tax and MYOB at Bly. I wouldn't have been confident enough to face the interview if I didn't know anything about GST or payroll or BAS. And also the interview board was impressed that I was doing an internship rather than staying at home.
I am sure what I did at Bly would be useful when I start my job next month. Also, maybe because of my previous overseas SAP working experience and CPA qualification, I was lucky enough to working in this type of large listed Company again.
Yolanda, I would really like to thank you, Jeff, Humam and Amy for the support you guys been given me during the training and Internships. You all were eager to answer any question any time. And all the best for Bly Accounting.
You are doing a great job and I would recommend anyone to start their career with you guys.
As you are aware I was successful in obtaining a graduate position at a top Australian manufacturing company before the Christmas break. My position deals directly with managing the company’s expenses (Expense Reporting Co-op). I am extremely happy to have achieved this position and I hope this email can inform and help other interns who are looking to secure a grad position.
The grad program for my company consisted of three main stages: a phone interview, assessment centre and face to face interview.
In the phone interview they asked general questions about my university studies and they also wanted to find out what I knew about the company. Speaking about my university studies was fairly straightforward but when it came to speaking about the company my advice to interns is that before a phone interview they should make sure they have done some research on the company. From this research interns should be prepared to talk about their general understanding of what the company does, the company’s clients, the company’s vision and values ect. (candidates may also be required to demonstrate what they know about the company in the face to face interview).
The next stage was the assessment centre where all remaining candidates met at the office and were put into small groups for an activity that was assessed. The activity was not accounting related and just involved your general knowledge (e.g. giving a response to a hypothetical scenario). While it is important to try and obtain an end result that best meets the task requirements, I felt what was more important to the assessors was the way you interact with your group members, alongside your contributions to the task. I find this stage could be quite challenging if you do not have much experience working with people you have never met before. Therefore in this stage I feel teamwork and leadership skills are the most important.
My advice for this stage is to always try and contribute something to your group, monitor the time (you have a limited amount of time so the assessors can see how you work under pressure) and to listen to and acknowledge your team members’ suggestions. Assessors will not like it if you do not speak much but at the same time the assessors will not like it if you are too bossy/controlling. Therefore I recommend interns should try to best maintain a balance of not being too quiet but also not being too dominant.
In the face to face interview stage the interview started off asking about myself and my experiences, my most favourite and least favourite job and my most favourite and least favourite university subject. Then they went into behavioural interview questions that included a time where I showed attention to detail and a time where I had to learn on the fly. When answering the behavioural questions my advice is to use the STAR method taught in university, and in Jeff’s interview guidance session. Many examples of behavioural questions can be found on the internet which I used to practice but I do not recommend memorising answers. I find it is better to be familiar with the many experiences you have had at your work, university and extracurricular activities so you can aim to apply these to any questions. This is a technique Jeff covered and I found Jeff’s interview guidance session to be very helpful in preparation for this stage. If interns are struggling to come up with experiences I find that there are a lot of situations from the internship at Bly that can be used to respond to the questions.
In my interview there were also no technical questions and I feel being a graduate position the interview panel did not expect candidates to have a great deal of experience in the accounting field. The interview panel seemed to be impressed that I took the initiative to build on my accounting skills by taking on an internship at Bly Accounting while studying and they were also impressed by my extracurricular activities, involvement in sport and volunteer work I have done. Therefore when applying for a grad position my advice is that if you have had other experiences that may not be accounting related, but involve certain skills such as team work, problem solving and leadership, it is beneficial to include these experiences in your resume and application.
I wish all my fellow interns the very best in their job hunting. All of the interns I have had the privilege to meet were extremely friendly and supportive. It is great to see Bly Accounting has such a positive work environment. Many thanks to Yolanda for all the fantastic work put into Bly and for her support and assistance. Also many thanks to Jeff, Amy, Scarlet, Lien and Humam for all their help, especially Lien.
Kind regards

Only 1 technical question (how do I calculate annual leave?)
The others were -
What is my management style?
Have I done payroll? For how many staff?
What does my friend say about me?
What do I do during my free time?
What is my expected salary?
.... can't remember the rest! I think I spoke too much and asked too many questions!
As much as I would like to share more, apologies! Perhaps, my success story may not be very relevant for junior positions. But if you would like to apply Accountant or Senior Accountant Position, please feel free to absorb any info that you prefer.
