Ringwood rail stab charges

TWO teenagers face assault charges after a man was stabbed in the stomach at Ringwood railway station.
And a third teen a 19-year-old Ringwood North man was remanded in custody last week after a policeman was slashed with a knife at Knox.
Police media Sen-Constable Adam West said a 23-year-old Lilydale man suffered a 25cm stomach wound in an incident at Ringwood station about 11.55pm on Saturday, August 9. Doncaster East resident Lyndon Benke said he heard the man calling for help and ran to his aid.
Mr Benke said the man’s T-shirt, pants and face were “covered in blood” from a “deep gash right across his stomach”.
He said he called an ambulance and applied pressure to the wound.
Ringwood paramedic Paul Rankin said officers arrived within five minutes.
Mr Rankin said paramedics gave the man oxygen, dressed the wound and fitted a neck brace before taking him to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
Sen-Constable West said an 18-year-old Heathmont man faced Ringwood Magistrates’ Court last Thursday charged with recklessly causing serious injury.
He said the man was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 7.
A Mt Evelyn man, 19, was bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on September 5.
Sen-Constable West said a policeman, 23, received a cut to the face during a struggle at Knox Ozone complex about 8.45pm on August 14. He said a Ringwood North man, 18, suffered a stab wound to the stomach and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital under police guard.
The man appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with intentionally causing injury, conduct endangering life, assaulting police and possession of cannabis.
He was remanded in custody until November 7. |
