As previously advised the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship,
Senator Chris Evans, announced a range of changes in response to the
global economic crisis to ensure the Skilled Migration program is better
targeted and more responsive to industry needs.
These changes affect skilled visa applications and gives priority
processing to applications in the following order:
1. employer sponsorship
2. state or territory sponsorship
3. an occupation on the Critical Skills List (CSL)
4. an occupation on the MODL
5. all other applications.
The CSL is a list of occupations developed in response to the changing
critical skills needs of Australia.
As your nominated occupation is not on the CSL and you are not nominated
by a State or Territory government or sponsored by an employer, the
processing of your visa application will be delayed until those visa
applications which meet the processing priorities are finalised.
The priority processing directions apply to all applications, including
those in the final stages of processing.
There is no set time for the processing of applications for skilled
migration. Information on our current processing priorities is updated
each Tuesday.
