Man charged over armed robberies — Sydney’s North Shore

Police have charged a man in relation to several armed robberies on businesses around Sydney’s North Shore in the past week.
Inquiries by detectives from Northern Beaches and North Shore Local Area Commands resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man from Marsfield on Monday morning.
About 3.30pm on Friday last week it is alleged the man entered a Collaroy clothing store carrying a hunting knife, and then another store at Mosman 90 minutes later.
It is further alleged he held up video stores in Artarmon and Manly.nnA small amount of cash was taken in each robbery.
As a result of their investigations, a man was arrested shortly after 10am Monday and taken to Chatswood Police Station for questioning. He was subsequently charged with:
· seven counts of robbery with an offensive weapon,
· enter building with intent to commit indictable offence,
· two counts of enter enclosed land without lawful excuse,
· possess implements to enter/drive conveyance,
· enter vehicle without consent,
· two counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of the owner.
The man appeared in Hornsby Local Court yesterday and was remanded into custody to appear in Central Local Court on Tuesday 21 July 2009. |
