ECCQ and the Health Program
ECCQ is the State’s peak body representing the issues and concerns of ethnic communities and people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
The State-wide Chronic Disease Program is funded by Queensland Health and the Australian Better Health Initiative Program to deliver health promotion activities and develop a self-management program which is culturally appropriate for people from Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
The aims of the program are:

to improve the health and wellbeing of CALD people with chronic conditions
*
to reduce the numbers of CALD people with chronic conditions
*
to establish and strengthen sustainable chronic disease services for CALD communities in Queensland
Position Description
The Project Officer, as a member of the ECCQ Chronic Disease Team, will be responsible for assisting with planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the CALD Chronic Disease Management Program.
Key duties:
*
Assisting the Program Officer and Program Manager in the development and evaluation of the health education, healthy eating and physical activity modules of the overall CALD chronic disease program.
*
Preparing periodical reports as required.
*
Representing the organization at various levels of the community and government sectors when necessary or as directed by the program manager.
*
Undertaking other relevant duties as required.
What we are looking for
o
Knowledge of the issues affecting CALD health.
o
Experience in working with CALD communities.
o
Experience in health education, promotion and training.
o
Good communication skills, including cross-cultural communication.
o
Ability to work independently but within a team environment.
o
Fluency in a language other than English would be an advantage.
o
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
o
Qualifications in Health Promotion, Education, Community Work or related discipline would be an advantage.
o
Relevant overseas experience would be well regarded.
Other Requirements
*
Work outside normal business hours, including weekends, may be required.
*
Current driver’s license.
Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrate high level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills within health promotion field.
SC2: Demonstrate skills in working with and communicating with CALD communities.
SC3: Demonstrate skills in data management, analysis, report writing and financial management.
