THE cabin of a ute has been flattened like a pancake in a high-speed crash on the same bend of Henley Beach Rd that last weekend claimed three lives.

The driver miraculously survived the 5.30am crash at Lockleys and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

His ute hit the median strip just metres from the impact point of last weekend's horror crash. The Ford Courier then hit a concrete stormwater drain and flipped roof-first into a stobie pole. It then spun around and landed on its roof.

The driver then ran off but was caught a short distance away.

Police have taken the crushed ute to Sturt Police Station.

Last weekend, Nicole Wright, 19, of Fulham Gardens, Grant Williams, 21, of Yaninee, on the West Coast, and Sean Brophy, 19, of Palmer, died when a Hyundai Excel slammed into a stobie pole just metres from today's accident at an estimated 120km/h - even though the area is a 60km/h zone.
