10 month contract with possibly extension to a maximum of 3 years Canberra<br>
Based<br>

My client is seeking to engage a highly motivated application developer with<br>
a strong background in application design and implementation, and<br>
development of on-line applications. You will lead a small team responsible<br>
for developing and maintaining applications, enabling a number of leading<br>
edge, dynamic systems to meet both internal and external client needs. The<br>
successful applicant will manage all aspects of application development<br>
using established SDLC methodologies in a PC/UNIX environment.<br>

Duties<br>
Lead and manage a small team of application developers.<br>
Design, develop and maintain applications, predominantly web based, in Java<br>
based environment.<br>
Work with Database Development team as appropriate to help deliver<br>
applications.<br>
Liaise with projects in the Division and external clients where required<br>
with respect to application development requirements.<br>
Undertake documentation including technical specifications and user guides.<br>
Implement quality assessment/quality control procedures.<br>
Provide client and user support.<br>

Experience & Qualifications<br>
The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator with several<br>
years experience in software and application development.<br>
Java/JSP skills in conjunction with experience in web based deployment of<br>
applications are essential.<br>
Oracle skills and/or knowledge of other programming languages such as PHP<br>
and Perl are highly desirable. Experience with GIS or web based mapping<br>
applications also desirable.<br>
