原来已经播了2年了，今天才无意发现，是从早上10:00到下午1:40，ABC(澳洲的那个，非美国的）的面向Asiapac的节目，主要是英语教学，教学的资料以澳洲的文化、科技等方方面面为题材，是了解OZ文化和学英语（特别是锻炼对aussie口音的听力）的一个好机会。今天看的那集印象比较深的一个英语教学短片就是讲melbourne的房价在最近5年内升幅太大，所以很多人放弃melbourne，移居同属维多利亚州Ballarat（墨尔本西面一个8万人口的城镇），说那里环境优美，建筑有历史感云云。<br>

PRESS RELEASE<br>
(15 April 2002) - We are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached between<br>
ABC Asia Pacific (ABC AP) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) for a daily broadcast of<br>
ABC AP Australian National News every evening after midnight on TVB Pearl.<br>
The new ABC Asia Pacific service is managed by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)<br>
- one of the most highly regarded broadcasters in the world, with almost 50 years of television<br>
experience.<br>
"We are delighted to be associated with TVB", said ABC AP Chief Executive John Doherty, "ABC<br>
Asia Pacific is offering a rich and diverse range of quality programming relevant to Hong Kong<br>
and the Asia Pacific region. We are particularly pleased to see our Australian news service with<br>
Rosanna Mangierelli on air every night in Hong Kong. The ABC is very proud of this news<br>
service which upholds the core values of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation of quality,<br>
independence and integrity. It will provide a unique window into Australia and the most up-todate<br>
news and current affairs from around the region, and the world."<br>
TVB Pearl will also include a block of ABC AP programs entitled "Good Day From ABC Asia<br>
Pacific" every Saturday from 10:00 am until 1:40 pm. The highlight of "Good Day From ABC Asia<br>
Pacific" is "Nexus"; an education program designed to help viewers refine their English language<br>
skills. Nexus programs focus on people and ideas from Australia and the Asia Pacific and<br>
address issues such as education, science, research and business. "Nexus has been designed<br>
specifically for the Asia Pacific audience and has been well received across the region for its<br>
innovative approach to English language education", Mr Doherty said. "Good Day From ABC<br>
Asia Pacific" also includes high-quality Australian news and current affairs, documentaries and<br>
lifestyle programs.<br>
David O'Leary, Australian Consul-General in Hong Kong, welcomed the announcement. "The<br>
ABC AP programs on TVB Pearl will not only be very well received by the estimated 45,000<br>
Australians living and working in Hong Kong, but watching ABC Asia Pacific is a great way for<br>
Hong Kong people to further develop their English-language skills while learning about Australia<br>
and its culture", Mr O'Leary said.<br>
ABC Asia Pacific's satellite TV service was launched by Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs,<br>
Alexander Downer, on 31 December 2001. ABC Asia Pacific is an independent statutory<br>
authority, which is funded by the Australian government. Despite the Australian Government's<br>
AUD90.4 million contribution toward the running costs for the new service, it will not be<br>
attempting to exercise any editorial control: the service will be genuinely independent in the best<br>
traditions of the ABC.<br>
