Lead Data Architect (Contract duration is 12 Months)

Mandatory Experience:

·         10 years+ experience as an Active Datawarehouse Architect – including design and implementation.  First Preference is HANA, but alternatives may be considered.
·         Strong delivery experience in Logical and Physical data modelling.
·         Strong delivery experience in physical data model view design.
·         Team Leadership experience

Key Success Factors

The following are a summary of the key capabilities required to successfully perform the role:
§  < /SPAN>Expertise in Data Modelling (3NF and dimensional) at a conceptual, logical and physical level;
§  Expertise in translating a Teradata Logical Data Model (LDM) v4+ to a Physical Data Model (PDM) that is optimised for execution on the SAP HANA platform.

§  Expertise in ::

o    Translating the logical entity into a physical database object, table, including sub-type/super-‐type entities and how to represent these in the physical data model;
o    Representing historical data;
o    Representing reference data (reference codes);
o    Representing NULL entities and attributes;
o    Representing views to access data;
o    < /FONT>Implementing de-‐normalisation;
o    Implementing optimisation strategies and;
o    Implementing compression strategies.

·         Expertise in source system analysis and mapping this to an integrated active data warehouse;
·         Expertise with Teradata’s Logistics and Transportation LDM v4.0, facets include:

o    Calendar, Channel, Delivery, Equipment, Event, Exception
o    Geographical Area
o    HU Break, HU Build, HU Equipment, HU Induction, HU Move/Staging, HU Scan/Sort, HU Container/Piece, Induction Source
o    Labor Plan, Shift Schedule and Task Type
o    Location Zone, Location zone Type
o    Postal Event, Postal Exception, Postal Piece, Postal State
o    Shipment, Transport Equipment, Service Item and Service, Trailer Load and Unload
o    Work Shift
·         Previous experience implementing an active data warehoue on the SAP HANA platform;
·         Previous experience and functional knowledge of the Logistics and Transportation industry;
·         Ability to lead and manage a team of data modellers and data mappers, leverage prior knowledge and expertise to guide the team to high performance;
·         < SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; COLOR: black; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-language: EN-US">Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with the experience required to gain agreement and able to provide clear recommendations that draw upon prior real project experience to gain consensus on data models; and
·         Ability to provide practical feedback to strategy and architecture that ensures project success.

Additional dependencies on the success of this role:

·         Integration (ETL) patterns defined and reusable components built such that the implementation of business logic can be inserted into working wrappers. Reusable components include surrogate key generation, process metadata logging, archiving, staging loading patterns (including delta detectio n), ADS load job, Business View pattern, Summary Table (full & incremental) job, history maintenance pattern.
·         Presence of key architectural components to support the solution, namely: Staging Layer, Atomic Data Store (ADS), Semantic Layer, Data Modelling tools, Data Integration framework and tools, Business Intelligence tools.
·         End-to-end design and process metadata to ensure that the system is understood as it grows.
