I am an Oracle consultant, and also working in Brisbane, i do not think 85k is a right offer for you to come here, the reasons are being:
1. In an Aussie company, you have very little chance to become a manager, i mean for new immigrant. hence you can see your career path in a company will end at senior BA level
2. the best option for SAP and Oracle functional consultants is to become a freelancer, the market rate is from 800-1500 AUD per day, but mostly short term projects. 6 months considered long term already.
3. there is a trend in aussie, the big company tend to outsource their IT project and operations, mostly Indian companies get the contracts, they will bring in young and cheap indian engineers and consultants directly from India on 457 Visa. our company have plenty of them. becuase of this, the local IT staff normally replaced by Indian contractors. and this trend will definitely depress the local IT market rate.
4. SAP and Oracle are considered high end in IT field in both Aussie and China, but definitely China got much more opportuinties and I was even thinking to take up projects in China, btw, the highest salary i ever got was in China.
5. Not sure how many years experience you have, but 85k is at lower end of SAP field in Aussie.
6. Tax is too high and there is no way you can avoid it. so even you got a higher paid job, the after tax salary would not make too much difference.
7. Cost of Living, Aussie now should be one of the most expensive country in the world
My opinion is that immigration suits for 2 kind of people:
1. You already have everything in China, no matter where you live, you do not worry about money, then you can come here. because Aussie will give you a different life experience.
2. You have nothing or very little in China, no matter where you are, you have to struggle for life. then you have nothing to lose, you can come here,
