In this role you will work with a team of engineering professionals in transmission network technology, enabling you to have a direct impact on the future design and function of the electricity transmission network in WA. Working with key stakeholders across the business, you contribute to the development of key technical documentation required to ensure a safe, reliable and efficient transmission network. As a member of the transmission team, your innovative thinking is essential to the successful integration of new and developing technologies. You will acquire and apply professional knowledge and experience to develop and maintain necessary standards and specifications pertaining to the civil characteristics of lines, cables, structures, civil works and related assets on the transmission and sub-transmission network.
You will also be responsible for providing expert advice and knowledge on the introduction of new technology to make the Western Power transmission network a safe, reliable and effective electrical power delivery system. Your responsibilities in this role will also include providing civil engineering and technical expertise on lines, cables, structures, civil works and related asset issues on the transmission and sub-transmission networks. The span of responsibility includes developing relevant standards and specifications, technical instructions, product and systems introduction, coordination and support, investigations and industry representation.
You will possess a degree in Civil Engineering and be eligible for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia . You will have experience in a civil engineering environment with active involvement with civil engineering projects and an ability to interpret and apply engineering standards and regulations. You will also have a knowledge of the disciplines associated with power networks, including transmission engineering, protection and control, SCADA and communications and be able to provide solutions to engineering problems and issues. You will have strong communication skills and meet strict deadlines.
