Open a bank account on the internet?

My LG told me that we can open a bank account on the internet and that will save us some time when we go to Sydney.

Is it ok? Anything we should be aware of before doing so? And how long it takes to open a bank acoount in Sydney? Also we have noticed that the banks in Australia charge a lots of fees. Are there any ways to have them waived? Here in Hong Kong, banking is quite efficient and costs almost nothing to maintian it. It does not seem to be the case in Australia. Any comments? Thank you.

大多数银行可以网上直接申请开通帐户，几分钟就可以完成，比较容易。 有的银行网上利率还就不错，一般比 term deposit 高，缺点是利率不固定，随时变动。我所知道的是不收什么费用。 多比较几家银行。
