Millions of dollars are spent on space research every year. Some people argue that the money should be spent on improving living standards on Earth. Do you agree or disagree?

Since the last decades, space projects have brought significant research results such as satellites for weather forecasting and GPS for our daily lives. Some people argue that space projects are a waste of money, which should be wisely spent for other urgent activities like improving living standard. However, I tend to agree with the statement that the benefits of space research far outweigh its drawbacks.

First of all, space projects may discover new resources in others planets. No one can deny the fact that our planet is facing a serious resource matter, which is going to hamper its economic development. For example, rare metals, such as gold and silver, would use up in the future. Therefore, opportunities that are brought by space investment to find potential resources in other planets are able to help us conquer this problem.

Furthermore, finding a suitable star for humans to live in is another benefit of space research. Since the world’s population is increasing rapidly, it is, indeed, an undeniable fact that our planet, Earth, cannot afford so many people in terms of water and food supply. Thus, if another planet could be found as our second home planet, it would be one of the best solutions to solve these poor environmental problems.

In spite of these positive effects discussed above, the negative impacts of space development cannot be denied. Considering that it requires a huge amount of money to invest in, the space research can seriously affect the economy of a country, especially countries whose economies are still being developed. Nevertheless, comparing to resource and environmental problems we are facing, the huge investments are reasonable and valuable in terms of their benefits..

From what has been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that that space research is extremely beneficial to our future because of the opportunities to find new resources and other suitable planets, even this research is one of the most expensive activity of the world.

谢谢鼓励,那some people改成some individuals

Since last decades

一般 Since the last decades后接 of the xxth century

"First of all, space projects may discover new resources in others planets. "

而且似乎应该是on the planet 吧,用in好像不太合适
For example, rare metals, such as gold and silver, would use up in the future. ”
应该是would be used up吧?
也可以考虑改成 would be depleted
"space projects have brought significant research results"

especially countries whose economies are still being developed.

Writing Skills for the IELTS test这本经典教材中的Nuclear Power这篇范文。
