The information session will be the first of four weekly training workshops that volunteers will need to attend to complete their induction.
Volunteers assist newly arrived families with;
· Social support / companionship
· Orientation to their home, garden, local neighbourhood
· Shopping assistance
· Accompany to appointments
· Social / recreational activities / community Involvement
· Conversation and language skills / helping with homework
Or you could utilise your skills to be involved directly with MDA staff working on projects and administrative activities.
We are also looking for volunteers that are happy to travel as families are not often settled in suburbs close to volunteers.
Areas of high need currently are;
Acacia Ridge
Darra
Stafford
Nundah
