Routing/switching technologies are as easy to use as personal computer today. Boundary between network and system is blur. IPv6 and Multicast are commonly accepted.
Campus/Enterprise networks are mostly based on high speed wireless rather than wired infrastructure.
World wide data centers provide services for individuals as well as business customer. High effecient storage/distribute system is critical. Content switching and fibre LAN are essential in data centers.
Security risks are significantly increased for service provider, while reduced at customer end. Access control,comparing with data lost, takes larger part of data security concerns.
Most business applications are web based. The only essential application on PC and PDA is a browser. Business applications are commonly hosted in service provider rather than locally.
Virtual servers and appliances are highly used due to the flexibility and reliability. Open source OS and applications are easier to deploy and supported by many commercial companies.
Telecommunication and messaging systems are more IP based. Voice and Video are highly integrated with mail system and customer knowledge base. Mobile handsets, which are likely web integrated, take a larger part of market than fixed phones.
