标题: ICT从业者求经验人士指导来澳洲后的职业发展方向

本人大学毕业后,先后在国内两家大型的通信设备提供商(28和26)呆过十年多,各种机缘巧合以及在职场上遇到变故(突发变故,与工作绩效和能力无关),遂决定移民澳洲。其实不论是在过去这10年里还是现在拿到PR准备登陆澳洲时,对自己的职业发展和规划一直比较困惑,只是考虑到澳洲找合适的工作之不易,这个问题现在尤为突出。时不时逛逛Freeoz,虽有所收获,但也引发了不少思考和顾虑。所以思考再三,打算发个帖,征求一下这里的经验人士给予一些指导和建议。

首先说下,本人其实个性相对单纯,心眼比较少,因此职场10年来虽取得了一些成就,但只知埋头苦干不懂得经营自己积累资本,以至于现在来看,有点不上不下的尴尬,人脉相对匮乏,知识/技术也仅限于满足工作需要,外延太少。这点我深知是个性和意识问题,得改。

其次,本人大学本科专业为计算机科学与技术,进入职场后从软件开发做起,5年后转型为售前技术,后走营销路线至今。所以等于是软件开发往通信技术在转型,而且后来还慢慢往管理层走。

那么来澳之后我能想到的似乎有3个方向,但有点举棋不定,也不知道有没有更好的发展方向和路线:
1. 干回老本行软件开发。我个人倒是蛮喜欢安安静静做点好玩的东西出来的这种感觉,但由于时隔6年,再次拾起估计困难不少,而且从论坛里的讨论来看,软件开发前景似乎并不优厚;
2. 继续干通信这行。可要命的是,我所从事的通信技术这块并非大家提到通信就通常会想到的无线通信技术、IP网络这些,而是移动核心网里的一部分,从就业来看,似乎比较小众,seek最近找了找,都木有相关的招聘信息。二来,营销干久了,阅历是不少,但对技术细节的了解已经都满满淡化掉了...
3. 将历史经验拔高和包装,然后看能否打入澳洲当地通信圈子,借熟人在运营商那里混个中高级职位?似乎有点理想化了,或者作为第二步的打算,不知道会不会太不靠谱。。。

再补充一点:
本人现在所在公司在悉尼倒是有office,回头会看看能否申请内部调动过去,这样可以给自己争取一些过渡的时间。不过一方面调动可能性未必大,而且待遇估计也一般般吧,对在澳洲长期发展也未必有太多积极的帮助,所以即使内部调动可行,我也还是需要提前考虑0-2年后找当地公司工作的问题。

以下是我最近整理出来的简历(虽然以Telecommunication Professional方向为主,但还比较符合我的实际经历),还请各位经验人士帮忙给分析点解一下,看看我究竟该怎么规划在澳洲的职业发展:

个人建议:
楼主可以从技术角度入手,管理和市场方面的就难说了。实际上这里的专业工作对技术的要求没有国内那么宽泛,专业领域也比较窄。

另外这里的专业分工和国内还是有很大区别的,建议自己多接触接触,发现自身的切入点。

补充下:这里的职业发展比较难,受限于裁员等因素,专业断层现象会有,不像国内。
这里找工作的理念是你懂不代表你能胜任这份工作,除非你有实际经验才代表你能做这个工作。国内的理念是既然懂了,具体操作就很简单了。

以上仅仅是个人意见。

先考虑relocation吧。楼主其实在国内混的相当好了,说句大实话,再重头做技术您估计也会有不适应的,否则你也不会走上营销管理路线。您大部分的时间还是在营销管理,我觉得不妨包装一下看看能不能有沾边的,我相信对于营销管理这方面,您的经验恐怕比敲代码要丰富。

我真正非常了解的通信技术在这边似乎有点小众,虽然还是会继续关注这方面的机会,除此之外从技术角度入手那就是重拾软件开发了... 是个选项,就是有点没底气,呵呵。话说最近在利用闲暇时间有一茬没一茬的研究研究iOS开发,不管将来用不用的上,至少还是不能丢了老底,哪怕作为兴趣玩玩也挺好,而且万一哪天用得上...... 就是要重新达到一个比较好的高度有点难,如你所说,不只是懂,还得有实际经验... “国内的理念是既然懂了,具体操作就很简单了。“深表赞同...

不知道你说的”专业断层“具体指什么?

太客气了,楼主国内混的其实一般般,简历里是做了些包装和提炼的,有点点装x的成分,呵呵。主要是这些年来自己也搞不清楚自己想怎么发展,所以有点做到哪里是哪里的感觉... 国内阅历广些就能混下去,但初到澳洲毕竟有着语言和文化差异,自己肚子里的那些东西不好好梳理梳理提炼提炼,似乎确实不太好发挥出价值来~

营销管理内容其实还比较宽泛,不像说起软件工程师基本都知道具体是做哪些事情。不知道这个方向上澳洲这边在职场里通常有哪些叫法,一般都有哪些要求呢?

至于楼主目前公司的relocation,能不能申请下来还不好说,即使申请下来,可能也并非长久之计,所以后续的职业发展规划该考虑还是得尽早考虑...

个人建议(作为同样是电信业人士,几点粗见):
1)楼主的简历适当突出重点,首先根据岗位是市场类或者技术类分开两个版本,--市场类的突出业务能力,接单项目的数量,质量,参考客户类型及到达层次(CEO,CTO或者IT Director),这个可以从侧面证明你的水准,其次营销类和市场类的口语必须比国内时候有大幅度提高,才可以申请类似的职级,因为商业谈判中没有时间学语言了;--技术类的话要细致,把自己能懂的写到极致,写细节,行家能看懂就知道你懂到什么程度,否则靠列项目的话可能连面试机会都没有,这里的技术工种很落实到实际操作经验,有没有都写清楚,不怕小众,建议都写出来;
2)行家都知道其实中、华在这边都与各大运营商有合作供货,所以即使仅仅是过来取本地经验也是很宝贵的,但是他们在这里的主要是销售类为主,都是从各个本地运营商有业务联系才过来的,所以如果楼主有技术根底而且恶补一下,可以考虑从产品经理的角度入手,成为技术方案(一般国内提供)和本地市场销售(纯销售)的协调者,这个方向应该是不错的,但不知到这样的岗位在澳洲多不多(可能也看他们业务发展需要);
3)多手准备,看有多大的欲望过来,并做好从事其他行业或者自己创业的准备,总之路子总是有的,看你会不会选择而已。

职业断层意思就是:本来工程师干的好好的,都打算往管理方向发展了,突然被裁员了,短期内又难以找到合适的公司,为了生计不得不从事其他不相关的工作,职业就断层了。

感谢你的建议!

在乙方(设备供应商)干的话似乎的确如此,市场类或是技术类,路线有些不同。
只是长远考虑的话除了继续在乙方外,澳洲通信圈子里不知道还有哪些机会比较适合重点考虑呢?甲方/运营商?咨询公司?

relocation后汲取本地经验到确实是个事儿,貌似大家都在强调,我可能也是得尽量争取调动成功。

往其他行业转型到不是没想过,只是似乎暂时没有看到好的路线,尤其是能够和我的过往经验相结合的...
