I have checked the URL you provided and got to know the detailed application process. However, I think I still need some help from you before I can start to apply.

1. It seems that I need a research proposal for my application. So could you give me a specific topic for my study? I can try to read some relevant literatures and then write a proposal.

2. I think it would be difficult for me to support myself without a scholarship. So should I apply for APA/UPA or you have some other scholarships?

a.成功拿到APA的人一年大概能够拿到23700刀 （2012年的标准，这个数字明年都会调整）。2周发一次，直接打到卡里，或者给支票。
b.享受每年20天工作日带薪休假 （其实加上周末可以休1个月）, 10天带薪病假 （可以延长到84天，如果病很严重，超过就要suspension了）。
c.女同胞可以享受84天产假。男同胞产前3周可以休10天，产后3个月可以休10天。
d.搬家费。如果你现在居住的城市不在读书所在城市（澳洲境内），你以及你的配偶和孩子能够享受单程机票以及搬家费。
e.毕业论文费用。这个小钱。

a.不能全职参与其他工作。每周需要在实验室工作35个小时以上。
b.其他收入不能超过奖学金的75%。

现在主要谈一下奖学金申请中的关键因素。奖学金申请，老板并不能起任何作用，所以全靠自己实力。当然RP在奖学金申请中很重啦，如果那个系里就你一个人申请，你肯定拿奖啦。

每个学校评奖学金的时候都有一个自己的规则，有些对外公开 （悉尼大学的比较详细），有些不对外公开 （UNSW绝对保密啊）。但是基本框架是一样的，就是本科成绩+研究经历。只要这两项，加起来，打到学校Honour 1的标准，然后你就有机会进入奖学金的候选名单。如果达不到，连候选的资格都没有。

（a）本科成绩

本科成绩是那个重要啊。重要得不得了。由于澳洲local几乎很少有人读research的master。所以，PHD奖学金评审过程中，绝对以本科成绩为主。研究生成绩为辅 （当然有例外，Monash默认中国的硕士为honour 1。也就说说拿到中国的硕士，申monash是肯定可以进入候选名单的）。

前面介绍了，澳洲是50分几个，80分honour 1（80这个线在有些学校有点差别）。但是国内是60分及格，所以呢，我们的成绩是要换打折的。坊间传说换算规则如下：
清华北大之类 不打折
其他985学校， 9.5折
211学校， 9折
非211 8.5折。

这个折扣对非211的同学太不利了 （LZ我啊）。打完就没几分了。

如果没有研究经历 （尤其是paper），个人认为 985 80+以上的同学，211，85+以上的同学基本可以拿到APA。当然如果有paper的话，GPA多低都可以。LZ我，非211 GPA76都没问题。你们一定可以的。 低GPA的同学接着往下看

（b）研究经历

好的研究经历可以弥补GPA，这个每个学校的规则都写了。但是请注意，基本上要有published/accepted papers来支持这个研究经历，才可以。单纯的工作经验，基本不能加分 （虽然很多学校说可以，但是工作经验没法量化去算分）。因此，paper的档次已经你在作者中的排名至关重要。

首先，只有同行评审的英文文章 （refereed international publications）才算数。中文的不算。另外澳洲政府闲着没事搞了一个ERA的论文评级系统 （ERA journal list），所以你发表的期刊要在这个list里面才算数。链接如下：http://www.arc.gov.au/era/era_2012/era_journal_list.htm
以前的ERA 2010还对杂志进行分级 A+,A,B,C.现在的2012取消了。

然后，一般在作者排名中，你需要是1作，至少得是2作。再靠后，基本上也用处不大了。

如果有1-2篇ERA的一作文章，你就忽略你自己的GPA吧，基本上拿奖就没有问题啦。
